Right

Generally the Owner of the vehicle is the first driver on the policy

For example iff i put my mum on my policy the insurance goes down a little

Iff my mum puts me om her policy the insurance is considerably cheaper .

I amgine they asume the keeper of the vehicle is the main driver of the vehicle .. Or the person who is taking out the policy is the main driver with and named drivers using the car on a less regular basis .

People do insure cars under parents names to get lower insurance .. Thing is though iff you have a highly modified car and its supposed to be your mums i cant see insurance companies / police taking the situation likley .

But if they have no proof then there's absolutely bugger all they can do about it :-D

I'm sure they were clamping down on having you as the owner and your parents as the insured party...

Just sell the car to the main driver for a £1.... Then there actually IS nothing they can do.. Unless you dont trust your parents ;)

If i knew i was going to insure under my parents name (which i did when i got my 1st car) then when i bought the car i'd put it in my parents name.

In my case i put my mum as the reg'd owner on the V5 and she rang up and insured it for me (because she doesnt have a car) and i just gave her the money and was added as a named driver.

I wouldnt do it if the car is in your name, looks very obvious!
