Featured Replies

since i went to a rallycross meeting last week n had a 350 odd mile journey home the car needed a bit of a clean up, so i borrowed my mates machine polisher, some fine cutting compound from work, and then gave it a coat of polish n its lush again :D

what machine polisher? and what cutting compound?

  • Author

it was a silverline hi-spec polisher/sander n autoglym fine abrasive :-) well chuffed with it, machined it, then autoglym polish by hand, then took th majority of th polish off with th machine on its slowest setting then did the rest with a microfibre cloth.

if u search them u can get 3 different silverline heads for it, a red one, a blue/green one and a white one. i got the red n white ones, the hardest n softest (i think)

i did it in this order:

1. Wash

2. Compound with machine (white head)

3. Put the polish on by hand with compound still on

4. Remove the majority of the polish with machine on slow (soft head), took remaining polish off with microfibre cloth gettin in nooks n crannies

5. Cleaned windows, wheels, grills etc

6. Then went potty with th camera lol

not sure if thats the right way to do it but it owrked for me :-)

i think the compound i used is slightly different to the one i put in that post last night, or they might have just renamed it, but the one i used was ultrafine renovator. it had the same colour front so i just presumed lol
