Rant over my car!!

Featured Replies

Ally will always sieze with steel unless there is some form of prevention. Also consider that coilovers were never really intended for road use up until recently when everyone is dumping them on for variable ride height.

I haven't checked mine recently, knowing my luck they'll have siezed again!

Lets hope so tim. its 2moro morning , fingers crossed!!

I've changed the wheels over like they asked and fitted a front numberplate.

if it fails then its major overhaul time and it wont be on the road for time.........

ok thought ide add a picture of my bodged suspension strut:lol:

basically the thread stripped on the ali lock rings. my first thought was to get new 1's but fK dnt sell them anymore for the old type struts.

then i thought oh fuck it ile weld the rings to the strut and have aset height, but for those who dnt know u cant weld ali to steel...

so i had a thinking sesh and came up with welding 4 10mm nuts at the same height 90degrees to each other with the flats all even so the lock rings sit into the nuts, as a stop kind of thing, well lets just say it works

no garentee with this work though ,:oops:

heres a lil piccy for you :)

Since the threads are knackered anyway wouldn't it have made sense to weld around the bottom ring to? Just for extra strength?

  • Author

what like inbetween the nuts kam? its only temp anyway, there foobared

Yeah,

Just to give it a bit of extra strength. Might be temporary but might aswekll make it as safe as you can make a pikey repair

oh jesus, hit a speed bump at speed and that will just give way lol! oh well as long as it isnt permanant, be careful with it though dude :)
