The gearbox in my daily driver VW Polo 6N 1.4 16V has decided to disintegrate (mostly bits of 4th seem to be rattling around the box) . Can anybody tell me if any gearbox from a petrol Polo 6N will fit or does it need to be one from a 16V?

i think all mk4 boxes will fit, but they will have very different gear ratios.
