Dial Direct - Bunch of rip off merchants

Featured Replies

Right, so I had a polo 16v which i have just sold and now I have a new 1.2 clio. I called dial direct for a change of vehicle quote and was quoted about £640 for the year. Best quote I have else where is £470 so I told them no way and il cancel my policy. Right they say, you've been with us 3 months so you have to pay 40% of the annual cost which means you owe us £181 plus £35 admin charge.

So either have to pay £200 to cancel or £200 more than my best quote.

What a bunch of thieving gits, sorry about the rant but other CP members beware

i think most insurers will operate a similar policy to be honest. I know its a joke, but they have you by the balls and generally will try to make it more expensive for you to switch than to stay with them!

The only thing that can make a switch worthwhle is their policy about modifications - if you intend to lower it and tune the engine, some insurers will be better than others. So if its gona cost you a lot more to make mods with your current insurer then switch, but you probably won't see that £200 back in savings to be honest.

It depends upon your contract, I would seek legal aid from citizens advice
