Got a quote from Admiral of £380 TPFT on a J-reg GT breadvan. They currently insure me on my 6n2 Match 1.4 8v for £420 fully comp, so I'm not particularly impressed. And that wasn't even mentioning the mods (lowered, chipped, induction). Mind you, I'll be running both cars for a while and she would only let me use my NCB on one of them. I'll be calling round some of the specialist places (Adrian Flux, Brentacre, etc) to get a better picture, but oh god it's tedious having to go through all the details again and again.

In the meantime, does this sound like a fair price? I'm 26, driving since 2000, 1 fault claim in November 2005, SP30 in April 2007.

A fair price. GT's are insurance group 8, or 7 if its a breadvan. The GT will be a fair bit quicker than the 6n2, and dare i say it, way more fun to own. I'd be more than happy with £285 if i were you.

I'm really looking forward to picking it up on Saturday, 20+ more bhp and 200kg less weight should be fun! £285 is definitely an improvement on £380 but it would be nice to get that down just a little bit more if possible. Got lots of phone calls to make tomorrow :)

I'm with Admiral and they let me use my NCB on other cars, thats what a muli car policy is for.

shop around, get the best quotes on both of your cars and then tell them to beat it with a decent offer otherwise you're off.

I got my insurance down with Admiral by just saying I want to pay less than £60 per month, saved my a fiver a month and reduced my first installment by £45 too, saved me around about £100 without any hassel what so ever.

Admiral wouldn't touch the GT with mods, and the woman I spoke to said I couldn't share NCB across two cars even on a multicar policy??

Spoke to Adrian Flux this morning and it turned out the mods didn't go through on my online quote yesterday. The quote with mods was £439 TPFT with £100 excess via Highway, and that was including club discount.

Brentacre quoted £350 with £250 excess (also via Highway) with all mods declared. Still a bit more than I was expecting, but it looks like that's about as low as it's going to get for now. Once I get rid of the 6n2 and transfer my NCB it'll come down a bit more.
