So I'm going to Phone Brentacre

Featured Replies

Basically i am being given rape worthy quotes on what is a very close to standard car. I only have alloys, and its only a 1.4 8v that i drive. Now I've heard brentacre quote on BHP not mods, which i like the sound of coz i want to get my car low again and stick my exhaust back on....but what i need to know before i call is what's my standard bhp and how much will a powerful exhaust add to it?? I dont expect it to be much if anything at all, but i want to be as legal as possible on the road as i can so no false info to insurance companies.

Standard power for a 1.4 8v Cl is 60bhp.

One thing i will warn you about is that although Brentacre give you a Power limit you will pay for the privilege.

I insured my car with alloys and lowering kit and it only added on about £35 over the 12 months with elephant.

The quote i got from Brentacre when searching for my Gt was mostly double what i was gettin elsewhere, but it had the added benefit of the power limit with the mods.

Yup like Ross says Brentacre aren't cheap. I could have settled for a policy with Elephant and saved £200 a year...but Elephant wouldn't touch the car with the mods I had planned so Brentacre then became the best option financially...I think for it to be worth while you need to have a heavily modified car. Alloys + exhaust shouldn't put your premium up much. The exhaust will add little or no power to the car.

Kk, well obviously i am going to shop around as i have been getting stupid quotes...but i always thought lowering bumped up the premium alot

Breantacre wont charge for any mods apart from any engine performance mods!

They beat most quotes i had apart from elephants but were only £40 more expensive but that was without mods!

brentacre deal with modified cars... if its std then a lot of other places are cheaper....

Its not standard...and i want to modify it more...thats why I'm phoning brentacre...

I found Brentacre were very good, nice and friendly plus they managed to beat everyone elses quotes (in the end they even knocked an extra £50 off in order to beat Quinn who were the only others left in the running ;))

They work by setting a premium with a BHP limit, which will let you do anything you like so long as you don't exceed the power limit - on my Arosa for example, its 50bhp standard, and they set my limit at 100bhp. They also don't charge to add little things mid-term, so as long as its nothing that will involve lots of paperwork (like an engine conversion) its all free!

yup i'm with brentacre on a 100bhp limit through a company called highway. they beat all my other quotes and baisically any cosmetic mods won't put up my premium!

Well i just got myself a cheeky quote of 985, so I'm well happy. All mods declared, with conviction points and accident, and it still beats regular compnaies without mods :D

Bring on 13th may when i get my car in the garage :D

Brentacre might be a bit more pricey but I think there service is a lot better for a start. When you ring them up and tell them something they don't ask stupid questions because there incompetent, your never on hold that long, they all speak proper English. As well as that they don't increase your premium when you do cosmetic modifications.

I could shop around and probably save £100 but for the hassle of ringing around, speaking to complete idiots and waiting on hold for half my life I'd rather have someone with a good friendly service and a genuine interest in cars.

Last time I did shop about a bit, but in the end I thought I'm happy with there service so stick with it. For me its not just about whos the cheapest, its who you can speak to without getting really really pissed off.

Well i did shop around before i called them, and i got a better deal having mods with brentacre than i did without mods with other companies lol. The lady on the phone was really nice actually.

if your 19 or over and with mods ring hic!

everything declared on mine.... at 20...1 years no claims

with a 20vt in my polo at 200brake (got a price for future plannin)

was 1k fully comp

I've just taken out with Brentacre now...well highway....I've got a 100bhp limit, but i know I'm not going to be anywhere near that lol.

Brentacre were well expensive for me. I called them up today as my insurance is due for renewal on the 26th.

With Brentacre I was quoted £1268 on a 100BHP policy with airfilter and exhaust (when i get it) and coilovers insured. But other places I can get it £500 cheaper obviously some wont insure my mods but the mods are only worth £300 so in my eyes its not worth paying the extra.

depends on the person and circumstances. I'm with them and they have given me very good quotes each time. far cheaper then other quotes i was getting. but then again my car is not standard.

why dont you try www.insuremyvw.co.uk i aint had a qoute yet but its a vw specialist insuring company, i am trying them this year for my bready!!!

What are Brentacre like for paying in installments, or is it all up front?

From me they wanted a pretty hefty deposit but it made the monthly payment pretty cheap. dont think it added that much onto the over all premium either.

As long as your over 19 and have 1 years no claims they'll give you a good price on a modded car.

I've been with brentacre for 5/6 years now. cant fault them. I'm on a 120bhp policy so i can do whatever i want cosmetically as long as power doesn't go above 120bhp.

Customer service is fantastic and i always speak with john, he has a lovely welsh accent ;) but freda and kerry are both nice too. and they know what your talking about with your mods so they dont try telling you crap :)

My sister is up for renewal next month and she'll be ringing them for a quote on her mk4 1.4 8v cl with mods. but like me, shes old too. (25 and I'm 30)

I spoke to freda 1st time around.... then last time i spoke to gary, he was a very lovely guy, he used to be a student in leeds to so we had a right old chat. They are most customer friendly company I've spoke to anyway.

I paid a big chunk of my deposit then 4 more payment IIRC.

Worked fine for me.

Pink diamond - They really are one of very few companies these days that actually understands the value of customer service.

I loved being with Brentacre - I could call them up when I changed something and have a good chat about it, always felt like they had time to go through everything with you :) Always used to talk to John about my policy.

Only left them on the end because HIC could give me the 'driving other cars' feature otherwise I'd probably still be with them.

Sorry to hijack a bit but has anyone been insured as a named driver with them, if so how competative were they?

I'm insured for both of my cars with HIC, who have done great prices.
