My White Mk2 Golf 16V

Featured Replies

Hi,

some of you may know my previous car which is a Pistachio Mk4 polo (currently for sale - plug plug!) I loved the car but have always dreamt of owning a mk2 golf 16V for some reason a black one on a J plate so I got a white one on a C plate!!

Picked up the car from Danr on here on the 25th March and have already done a few bits and pieces, main things being getting an MOT which it sailed through despite being stood for ages and giving it a good service and some Becky B cleaning magic which I am known for!

The car already had a single lamp grille and smoked headlights, smoked rear lights, arches, sill and door trims removed, cl spats, full leather interior, late spec doors, lowered on Koni shocks and springs (about 40mm) and on Fondmetal 15 x 7 wheels.

Since then I have changed the wheels for 15 x 7 ATS cups, removed some of the stickers on the windows and added some NWVAG ones, added chrome door pins, custom made NWVAG floormats, chrome door handle trims, added smoked crystal indicators, crystal front fog lights, crystal side repeators, added a few bits of missing trim including a boot carpet..... gave the car a good clean inside including all the leather, then the outside had a wash, polish and wax then a couple of days ago clay barred it and did it all again! think it looks much better now.

My plans for the near future are to lower it some more on coilovers, change the wheels, single wiper conversion, lightbrow, change the gearknob and gaitor, put on my aftermarket steering wheel out of the polo and to fit my focal speakers and JVC headunit from my polo, and I'm sure I'll think of a lot more along the way!

Here's the pics, see what you think!

lovely :D

gotta love the mk1 aswell :D

plans are sounding good :p

Looks quite tidy... Never seen a big bumper car with no arch trims, looks a bit odd I think? Get some small bumpers on it and it will be sorted, only in my opinion of course. OR an arch trim kit. Black on white always looks good.

NICE! was abit unsure awhen i saw the first pic, but becky magic worked on it and its lookin nice! as tobz said not 100% sure on the trim less arches but I'm sure you wil sort it out real nice bec. besta' luck with it :p

very nice i like mk2 golfs!! :-)

haha I think its incredibly tidy considering its the original paint and the car is 22 years old!

Will be keeping the big bumpers as I think small bumpers look wrong on a mk2 golf, I love the clean look of the car with no trim, its the look I was going for and think it really suits it.

thanks for your comments though!

very nice bex you cant beat a white mk2, is that vr6 mulbrerry leather too yumm

And how can small bumpers look wrong? :retard: some came from the FACTORY with them silly

Do you mean you dont like them? :-p

Oh and reply to my PM

Oh and reply to my PM

the seats are from a vr6 highline, they'll be staying as they are brill.

Usually when you use the term "I think" as I did in my post it precedes something which is an opinion so er... yes I think they look wrong, my car came out of the factory with small bumpers as its an early model so I do know that they come like that I just don't like small bumpers on a mk2 golf

Yes that indeed was an opinion.

Big change from a 1.0 Polo that's for sure... Something that struggles to do 100 to something that will hit 140 on a long enough straight

Ahh sorry, so you say wrong meaning you dont like it? i say/know "wrong" when stating something that is incorrect, inaccurate or which is an error.

For example... your use of the word "wrong" is infact wrong :retard::lol:

Anyway, reply to my pm

Its not wise to ignore me ;)

Today I got the sound system out of the polo ready to go in the golf, i didn't realise how good the setup I had was in the polo

I've got a JVC headunit, focal door speakers, focal crossovers and focal tweeters to go in - can't wait!!

I know what you mean. I had a white Pug a while back and now got a white R33. I try and get all my cars white unless its a Ford. Urgh.

As for the Golf... if i wasnt moving house, just bought the R33 and a Polo i would be interested. lol

i think it looks better without the side trims. thats the look i was going for but there is two golfs just appeared like that in my area. what are your plans for the engine?

Thanks, its just one of those things really that comes down to personal taste isn't it? the whole time I owned my polo people told me to get 16v bumpers and I refused!! the whole time I own this golf people will tell me to get small bumpers and put the trim on - if I was aiming to please the masses I would do it but I know how I want the car to look and as long as I like it I'm happy!

plans for the engine aren't really a priority, bodyshop is my next priority then suspension and wheels. As I have driven a 1.0 for 4 years to go from that to a 16V I will be happy for a while but I have a friend who is going to help with a few little secret tweaks that he has done to his VW and made it amazing so watch this space!

Thanks again for your comments, I'll chat to you at the next meet if I see you as never really had a good look round your polo!

update from the weekend:

Finally got my steering wheel on out of the polo, it makes such a difference! I took it for a nice quick drive to celebrate, its even on straight!

Also got my stereo and speakers, crossovers etc..in at the weekend, its fab now and sounds amazing, proves you don't need a boot full of subs to get a good quality sound.

I love it!!!

Just got to sell the polo!!

8-)
