Hey! I'm planning on going in the summer months, just wondering if anyone has tips or experiences and how much to budget etc? Thanks!

Well went last year in my mates evo

Cost I think it was £180 for hotel right near track and ferry from Hull to Rotterdam

Included cabin on ferry

Then as for petrol as you can prob tell in an Evo wasn't cheap and we weren't holding back at 167mph on the autobahn came to £140 for the whole trip there and back.

So then of course you got food and if your going round the track think it works out at £10 a lap.

Its not bad but not much to do do on a night the whole town really lives off the track being open

Spent most of my money on beer and pizza

But all in all well worth it going back this year

How your mate spent a grand on fuel I don't have a clue but we did 8 laps round the ring and got no where near that fuel consumption

Its worked out about 700 mile round trip from Huddersfield so your mate either got lost or lived on the ring for a week

With all 3 cars that went I don't think the fuel added up to £1k

Make sure you car is reliable fucking mini we went with broke down every mile lucky there was a mini spares in Nurburg

It depends on a lot of things really. How long you are going for, How many laps you want to do, the type of accommodation (hotel,B&B,Camping).

A good place to start looking would be Ben Lovejoys website http://www.nurburgring.org.uk/ and the Northloop Website. When me an my brother went I think we spend in total about a grand and we were there for 4 days staying at the Ringhaus (very good place!) doing about 40 laps of the ring.

£140 on fuel, how many laps did he do of the ring? 13 mile laps in a presumably 300bhp + car...I'd have prob. spent £200 on fuel for the track alone.

As for night time the boys who went locally seemed to have an awesome beer and food fest most nights.

word of advice, take a credit card !!!!

you will spend a LOT of money, more than you will estimate, but you will enjoy every second of your time there :)

our hotel for 3 nights was 320euros

i done 6tanks of fuel, fuel is pretty much same kind of price there as it is here

food, if you like your food, will cost you a lot

get a price in your head and double it!!!!!

when you do get there, look up a company called Zakspeed and see if you can go on the quadbikes with them up the mountains, its an awsome day out!!!

when my boss was driving us to the n.ring, he just took his plates off, was fine for the night driving, not so good in the daytime.

Yeah, my front plate wasn't visable when I went.

I budgeted £850 for my trip there.

Fuel - £210

Ferry - £175 (Newcastle to amsterdam)

Ring Ticket - £150

Drink - £100

Food - £120

Hotel - £50 (Centre Parcs)

Also had european breakdown cover and bought myself a roadside kit, spare bulbs, warning triangle etc.

I dont think I went over that budget either. That was basically a 3 day stay.

Satnav led us straight to our hotel and the Nurburg Ring. Very usefull.

expencive but not bad concidering its pretty much driving mecca that we should ALL do oneday...

i went last summer and it didnt cost that much really, just make sure you book the ferry in advance and as for accomodation i camped at the nurburgring camping site which is really close to the track and is a good laugh. Also you can pay for more than one lap at a time for a discounted rate so imo its not that expensive.

As for speeding in france i got flashed 4 times and haven't recieved anything in the post, happy days lol

Some of the costings are just insane

But it all depends on how many laps my costings were not including lap petrol and all that

For £300 I bet you can get accomodation, ferry and drive there and back

There is a Centre Parcs near by? Having been to one in Nottingham that could be good for any future trips to Germany.

A guy on our local VW forum who has a 106 Rallye just got back from a trip to Europe. They travelled 3500miles and made the 'ring one of their stops. Apparently the cambers/gradients are awesome in real life, much more than you'd guess from the computer games.

Yeah they really are, i was drivin a mk3 golf and it was the most adrenaline filled time of my life lol and the fact you have to keep and eye out for all the motorbikes and porsche Gt3s!! I'm defo going again this summer!!
