having put my rear wheels on and then let the coilies settle, the arches now sit on the tyres while it looks amazing, it's not going anyway as it is. So i thought i give myself a challenge in rolling my rear arches. I bought a DeWalt Heat gun and a soft headed hammer.

anybody that has tried this got any tips, i've got some spray paint mixed up aswell, to go over any scratches etc. At the end of the day it's inside the arch so wont really matter.

DIY rolling is hard enough to get right when your a pro, which is why nobody offers a guarantee it wont spoil the finish on the outside.

Your basically going to try pannel beating, which is a very skilled job. The only advice I can give it lots of very small tap rather than one almighty whack.

Worse case scenario you need to get the rear arches fixed by a body shop, whihc is the 'proper' way to go anyway. So for the sake of £30 and a few hours its worth the gamble

body shop be easier like, .................but i did a home made job on mine as funds are low like a mother.

just heat the area up like hot...ofcourse not too hot tho !! hahaha , then give it a couple of smacks...jobs a gudn!

i didnt even bother heating my arch up that was because i wasnt thinking straight, i might have a screw loose in me head i reken, but i just smaked it little by little and the lip was bending in.... bits of paint were some how flacking of in some parts, thats coz of not using the heat gun ! but it wasnt bad.....just put some paint on and sorted.

its still scraping a bit...so i went to a dude to ask him to roll it propa, he just said iv done a good job and to carry on a bit further ! i was like MINT ! :-D

i wouldnt atempt it i tried my paints all cracked lol

Send it to a body shop, or you can even buy the arch rolling tool yourself and do it properly!

I did mine with a huge hammer, but now I regret it cause I want to keep the car and the arches are mangled

gently hammer them in no need for heat once done paint over with hammerite it'll be much better either a close colour to the car or black

i gave the lip a sanding so the paint cracked in a controlled line along the bend of the lip then used a lump hammer and the wheel brace hitting the wheel brace while i rolled it along the lip at increasing angles on each sweep then hammerited it ( if hammerited is even a word lol)

heat the arch so the paints warm, get a round bat, depending on the drop and wheels if you roll the car slowly over guiding the bat should do the job, thats what i used and it worked well, I'm bound to be called a pikey but worked for me, i had the old wide arch coupe s

i used the heat and then hammer gentley technique, soft hammer aswell, worked quite well

hmm might try it as i hv the gt arches to covers broken paint

Zombie's suggestion is tried and test, that or buy an arch roller, you can recoup your money easy, by doing other peoples, its worth it in long run.

Hammer and dolly way is a true art....

I did this today with my roller... rims are 8x13 et5 and thats a squareback!

that looks wicked what size wheels and tyres are they it looks perfect for what i want

They are 8x13 et5 ish with a 175.50.13, arch work took about an hr, but you couldnt stretch em that much without cracking the paint...

I intend to run camber shims aswell to help things, prob around 3 degrees.

Cool, you should be fine then, the cheaper one's just break when you wind the presure on, i got mine from Frost....

yeah thats the one i'm getting it should have been bout 260 my mate says so i don't mind 180 lol and don't matter bout paint as its going mv

i used a short piece of scaffold bar and then hammer and dolly pulled mine out a bout a inch and a half

just waiting on new rims to arrive now so these bbs rs,s will b up for sale

get a kinda group buy on the go. get a few people who want their arches done, all splash in for the cost of the arch rolling tool, once you have used it pass it on to the next guy. similar thing happening on my local dub site

Seen that video before. Looked dubious to begin with but looks as though it kinda works!

I did my mk2 bready years ago when i owned one. Cut the inner rear lip into lil sections with a hacksaw and then gently bent each one up till the tyre no longer catched! dab of paint and hey presto. I'm older now and wise to the fact it was a proper pikey effort!
