is it legal to insure my car this way?

Featured Replies

my car is registered to me and insured as rlass as the main driver and me named. this gave me the lowest quote possible, when they started questioning it just told em i had my own works van and i gave the car to her to use for work and didnt want the hassle of all the paperwork for changing owners. suckers, rlass hasnt even got a full license.

when i hadf a claim they wanted all the licences sent away to prove that everyone on the policy had one.id be wary about this one

when someone went into the back of my old gt i couldn't claim as i technically wasn't insured- the car was in my name but i was a named driver on my mum's policy (bit of a stupid mistake to make i think you'll agree!) so if you do decide to insure it in your dad's name, make sure you change the ownership of the car aswell. or you'll screw yourself over like me :D

nope think its illegal and called summit called fronting

It's insurance fruad.

Plain and simple, FRAUD.

By claiming to be a secondary user of the vehicle when you are and knowingly are or knowingly will be the main or sole driver of the vehicle is fraud and is punishable with hefty fines and jail sentences the same as any other type of fraudulant activity.

Also you are knowingly driving without proper insurable cover, you are dangerous to yourself and other road users, including pedestrians, property and any being, that being animate or inanimate for a lack of insurable cover may lead to non payment in the event of a claim regardless of fault. You can be prosecuted for driving uninsured also.

It is possible to add your parents to your policy with you as the main driver and the parents as secondary drivers. This usually reduces the cost when the policy is written or re-newed. Unfortunately adding your parents to an existing policy will probably increase the premium.
