1 wheel bolt wont go on

Featured Replies

1 of my wheel bolts will not screw on does this mean it has been crossthreaded? what is the way to overcome this problem dont really want to drive around with 3 bolts on! would tapping the hole on the hub solve the problem? if so what size needs to be tapped?

yer tried that dude! all the bolts go in bar one ! would someone like quick fit be able to solve my problem or does it have to go the garage to get sorterd? dont really wanna mess around with it myself

What do the threads look like on it compared to the others?

re tap it matey, the same size as the bolt, that will sort out the thread

Yeah best / cheapest option is to try and get it re tapped cos if its a MK3 then the only other option is what I had to do which is replace the wheel hub + bearing. Although if you know how to remove the suspension strut yourself and buy the parts from GSF you can have this all done with new hub and wheel bearing for around £40.

Check the threads (sorry no pun indended) for guides on removing strut. There's even a good one showing how you can press a wheel bearing yourself although I found it easier to take the strut along to a garage and paid £20 to have bearing pressed and new hub put on.

Cheers
