Schern's MK3 Polo

Featured Replies

Here it is, a mighty 1.05l Polo Fox! Feel the power! Its lowered on a Phil J kit and sits on ATS Classics. 13x7 on the front and 13x8 on the back. Other than that its pretty much standard. Got a few dings here and there, but its a 14yr old car so its bound to have some. Biggest issue is the front passenger wing. Want to get that replaced asap really, but worried about getting a colour match! Also the exhaust is a tad low... it catches on cats-eyes! Need to try and get it sorted. Hopefully replacing the centre rubber will help as I had it up in the air today and its about knackered. If not then I may have to investigate getting another mount welded on somewhere as its a bit of a pain at the moment. The rear tyres catch the arches on big bumps so I'd like to get the arches rolled/pulled out a bit just so they have a bit more clearance (and as a useful side effect I should be able to drop it a bit more 8-) ) and then just getting the little bits of rust tidied up and it should be about there. Then it'll be on to finding a 1.3 out of a GT and a 5spd box for it!

Here are the piccies...

nice car dude

loverly colour

am lovin it!

Really like it, top job!

Mate that is f*cking gorgeous!! There's something about it, just looks so clean!! Perfect example of a nice tidy Coupe, not trying to look like a G40 or anything, just showing how even the 1.05's (I have one myself) can look just as good as their faster brothers!!

Nice to see a Fox kept immaculate for once, all the ones near me are rusted away to shit!!

V. nice, subtle and lovely, and the engine looks in really good nick too! Only thing is the exhaust looks like it hangs REALLY low...

Very nice mate, plenty of room in the engine bay there not used to that :-p

Keep up the good work

Thanks for all the comments! I can't take credit for its current state (apart from it being clean and shiny) as I bought it exactly as pictured. Does need a bit of tidying but it photographs well! :-D

Caribbean green.. is carlsberg make paints for mk3's :)

Not that I'm biased or anything

Went a bit mad with the camera following a cleaning session. Made some fairly good progress with it so far. I've got new front door cards (black fabric instead of green and grey stripey vinyl), new steering wheel, new exhaust, glovebox lid, dash with rev counter (thanks flat-eric 8-) )

Still to come are some black rear interior trims (being picked up Sunday), want some new front seats and then to find a black rear bench. Then it will be onto tidying up the bodywork and trying to find somewhere local to roll the arches for me!

Yeah, I wasn't 100% convinced when I bought it, but it was cheap and it had to fit better than the supposedly standard (but oddly bent) system that was on it. Thought it would be a bit OTT especially with it being a 1.05, but I'm really pleased with how it looks now its on and it sounds quite nice and throaty without being deafening.
