HELP!!! Indicators not working!

Featured Replies

Hi! Can anyone tell me why my indicator lights aren't working? I was driving home the other day and all of a sudden I was turning off and my indicators stopped working! Nothing what so ever! I checked the fuse box and it seems to be fine! Even replaced the fuse just to make sure that it wasn't a faulty one and still nothing! Checked all the bulbs and connections seem to be fine! If anyone can help me I would be grateful!!! Oh yeah and it's a P.reg 1.6 Polo Classic! Thanks!!!

not a clue mate if all conections are right have you tested the connections and is it all of your indicator bulbs or just the side ones what car is it pal

unprotected wiring that has had water contact normally causes lights to not work without fuse going

All of the indicators + side repeaters! By connections I mean like the wires connecting to the bulbs etc..... But not sure where else to look or maybe if it's the relay or something and where that would be located? Cheers!

Its 1 of 2 things either the relay or the flasher unit..Sugguest you check the flasher unit but double check the relay 1st its the cheapest option..

Oh ok - I'm not sure where the relay is located! :( And if water did get to it - would that have caused the relay to fail? Thanks!!!

what car is it so i can check it on Autodata..

It's a P.reg 1.6 single point injection (8v) 75 bhp Polo classic (saloon version) em......... I don't know what else to put! Many thanks!!!!!! :)

could be a earth fault?

question, can you hear a clicking noise when you put move the stalk to put the indicators on? if you cant hear a clicking noise (tick tock) then the chances are that it is the realy. Being a MK4 the relay is located behind the drivers side glovebox, just take that out and the fuse box diagram is on the glove box. hope this helps

i still recon its the flasher unit :D

yes mate, i think that is the one, the best thing to do is go to a dealer and ask for the indicator relay (shouldnt be too much) and try fitting it. if that fails then it may be a wiring fault. let me know the outcome.

Yeah it's fixed! :) It was the relay! It was relay number 21 - I went up to the scrappy and got 6 deferent ones (just incase it was the wrong one) and it turned out to be No. 21.

Thanks for everyone who helped! :)

Cheers!!!!!!!!!

was going to say relay i had same problem few weeks back but mine was blowing relays turned out to be a trapped wire arking on the bodywork
