Evening Lads and Ladies

She is a 1991 Polo Breadvan GT. Goes like stick pretty sure not standard engine wise. underneath poly bushed front and i think rear. Lowered on Shocks and Springs. standard inside and out. have put a CD/DVD player in. Just a few pictures.

My ideas will be track days and daily run about.

This weeks plans: Good Service, Cam Belt and Waterpump, Very Good check over.

Future Plans: Coilovers, Braces (front, rears, and lower) Exhaust System, Air Filter (not sure if Panel or Cone - opinions welcome), Good top end de-code and clean through, Alloys (Not sure yet what ones)

My day job is a Volvo mechanic. (all this for Heater Matrix)

You'll see from my user name that I love the breadvan's - particularly mk2's. To me that looks a very nice indeed. What mileage has it done, and does it have the dreaded battery tray rust? Get some more pics up.

IMO, it looks really good on those wider GT Coupe steels with the centre caps. Getting different alloys on the breadvans can be a right bastard due to rear wheel arch clearance. It limits your choice quite a lot unless you go for O.E. VAG alloys such as the BBS ones fitted on the G40's.

Unless you make your own, coilovers are very very expensive for the mk1-3 Polo's. If you really need to change your already relatively new suspension setup, can I recommend the HnR Cup Kit? It is widely recognised as being one of the very best off the shelf suspension kits available for the Polo. Only goes down 60mm front and 40 or 60mm at the rear which looks to be about what you already have, but the quality is excellent with a good compromise of ride comfort and firmness. Says me, my kit is still sitting on the garage floor awaiting fitment! Speak to PhilJ on here - Jackson Tuning section, he supplies them at a very good price.

You can fit a panel or cone filter but neither will give an increase in power. The restriction lies in the AFM. A good 4 branch manifold, decat and exhaust system with a Poloace chip will make much better improvements. If your gonna remove the head for a decoke, clean up the castings in the ports with a die grinder. Then have 3 angle valve seats cut by a decent machine shop. It'll really make a difference and is pretty cheap too, around £40 IIRC?

Have the rear arches been rolled or something? They look flared and more rounded than the average breadvan.

yeah work has been dones to the back arches (not very well) yeah I'm gonna put her on a dyno, i think she is quicker than what its ment to be (i think 75bhp?) how much torque do they produce.

also have a price list of auto services i can do. prices cheaper than anywhere else.

i paid a huge 400 (tax and ticket til decemember) 120,000 on the clock, and history. not complete but has got some.

mine isnt the best looking lol, scratches and a few small dings. but i love her. i may look at getting another one soon. and missus actually likes this one compared to the other cars (1971 austin 1300, triumph toledo) lol
