as the topic says the clutch cable snapped last night (on top of the steepest hill )

How hard are they to replace? can anyone post a how too?

Are you sure its not the pedal box?

not sure to be honest just felt like the clutch cable last night. It was about 12 so dark and i haven't had a chance to get to the car this morning.

How would i tell?

isnt that and expensive garage job?

I've never realy heard of clutch cables snapping? but there are alot of problems with pedal box's breaking, it is quite a big job, I'm sure the steering column has to be lowered, i haven't had to do one yet, someone else on here must have though, and usualy the break because the clutch itself is heavy, hope thats some help, if you look underneath near the pedals with a torch you should be able to see it if its broken

Ermm the clutch cable snapping is rare, stretching yer, but to completly snap means its not good..pedal box isnt a major job, but would suguest taking it to a garage to do, usually its jus the pedal box bracket that goes on polo's, but getting double checked by a mechanic..

cheers guys, i heard something snap when i pressed the clutch then nothing. I'm afraid you might be right.

is there anyway i can tell before i take it to a garage?

just wanted to say cheers for the replys. Me and my uncle had a look at it today and the clutch cable is snapped. cost me a couple of quid for a new one and it'll be fitted tomorrow.
