:S... feel like a stupid tw*t asking this but i have seen people going on about scene and scene tax and a few pix saying scene tax, what does this mean etc? just a brief explination anyone o.0

I'm guessing it means that if something is scene its in fashion in a weird way so people will pay more for stuff, e.g. 16v bumpers hope that helps

See the thing is, the people who complain about 'scene tax' are generally the same people who are paying the 'scene tax' cos they are too fat and lazy, not to mention too un-willing to get their designer trainers dirty in a bit of scrapyard mud, in order to get that rare part for sensible money!

Scene points are where it's had, test_richie had about 15,000 when he sold the polo, i'm on 6,000 at the moment, with all my "rare" bits. when the engine is done i'll be on 10K

an example of scene tax would be my mulberry VR6 interior, i bought it for £250, although i could easily get £500 for it the £500 is a scene tax inclusive price

Bike carbs are at risk of high scene tax,because more people are discovering them,and buying them as a result. I got mine for 20 quid a set,but i cant find them for that now.

like sal said its simple economics of supply and demand, alot of parts are in short supply or highly sought after and people will pay silly more for them for the ease of convenience of not having to rip it off a car in a scrapyard, or even having to look particularly hard for it.

often the price you pay is governed by how hard would it be to find an alternative in the same condition for the same price or less.

vag oem goodies always demand higher prices, audi 80 caliper carriers for 256mm brakes go for stupid money but yet you can fit brand new vauxhall calipers with shoulder bolts for half the cost.

plus certain people use thier cars as tools, every part on it must be rare or elusive, cars like that dont tend to get driven which is a bit car, some people may argue a car it to be used all the time, others say i can build a show car for showing (and they do and usually run sweet non show cars) or they cry at night everytime they get into thier daewoo matiz.
