I'm not sure on the power of the A3 1.6, i think its just over 110 bhp but bear in mind it weighs the same as a small planet i wouldn't worry about him leaving you at the lights :paranoid:

Another of these 'can I beat a..... in my polo' topics!

I'm gonna add to it anyway..... look on Audi's website for the facts & figures on the new A3 if you are that worried.

Or tell him that his new car will be quicker, then race him anyway and beat his over confident ass!!!!

having cocksure mates in gay cars is annoying man, need to be sure i wont be beaten by a smug audi driver.

The Audi A3 1.6

0-60 mph 11.5 s

Power Output 100 bhp

The Polo GTI 1.6

0-60 8.4 s

Power Output 125bhp

You can now sleep in peace knowing you'll eat him for breakfast

polo would win, if the gearbox doesnt blow up!

Id rather have an A3 though!

just try it and find out :p

The Audi doesn't have a chance. And I'd rather have a Polo GTI than a boring 1.6 A3 any day of the week

Just to add, that's pretty flippin' slow, I think even I could beat that official figure.

neither are particulaly fast, audi will hold value

and will be more reliable

A3 1.6's are painfully slow, trust me

lol i carnt say nothing because I've said it before is my car quicker than that lol

but like me just get it in you are head its a polo so its slow. (unless loads spent on it)

I've got a 1.416v afh and thas dog slow its ok for a 1.4 but thats it.

but dnt get me wrong its only the last few months I've thought like that before i was the same.

Audi is slow and the GTI is fast enough. The GTI holds its value staggeringly well and aside from the gearbox, it is a pretty reliable car :-p

bahaha i could annihilate a 1.6 audi in my GT

my exs 1.6 mk4 golf was barely faster than my 1.4 8v mk4, and with her driving the golf i used to tan her easy lol

am guessin the mk4 golf and a3 are fairly similar size and weight wise

'annihilate' is not the word.

Accelerate at a faster rate. But not 'annihilate'. Annihilation is normally a spectacular thing

You'd think a Polo GT would be faster than a 100bhp Mk2 Focus (same size as A3) but barely. Certainly once the speed is up over 50-60mph the GT looses any advantage.

Danny is right, annihilate isn't the word...Now G40 versus GT...that's annihilation right there

Audi A3 will be a little underpowered...Polo GTi's are adequate...good match of power to weight for day to day driving.
