has anyone built a boot build and put a false floor with the sub in the wheel well.

iff so how have you boxed it in, went to do it today and I've had proplems boxing it in, need peoples help/opinions on how to do it, cheers. Mike.

beszt bet is cover the wheel well with masking tape, then use tin foil over that cover with fiberglass resin and mat to make a solid sealed enclosure then a 18mm mdf baffle and a 10" sub jobs a gooden :)

beleive the was a huuuuuuuuuuge thread on someone doing this...i started doing it myself at some point to save myself some boot space... made all the frame to hold the sub and made a cover but never got round to actualy matting it or building a proper box...

i covered mine with masking tape and a non stick coating then used fibreglass resin and mat to make a mould then did it again and used fibreglass to bond them together and cut a hole for a twelve inch sub it looked wicked, that was 10 years ago lol i'm getting old man lol

it may be a tight squeeze for a 12" you'd neet to try and work out the volume once it's done really

yeah its a 12inch sub, I've built the actual floor and cut the hole out central for the sub, just unsure how to do the enclosure

I wouldnt worry about that, what power are you running? and since you dont ahve it in a box or if you do it must be tiny then i wouldnt expect it to be making low notes they are the only notes that will make it pop

Erm I had a 12" vibe sub which I made a platform for. Sound deadening inside the wheel well and I put a cusion aswel! LOL!

Sounded good and looked really neat. May well do it again!

that was my first attempt in the wheel weld... nothing special and was used for a lil background bass...

second attempt! but never got further than this as iprefer speed over bass lol

Oh and I dint have rear seats, completely stripped.

it was ok but i made my boot useless. so i took it out plus at the time i wanted more bass and got the space two and tried to work a way of being able to have my boot and bass... i had some perspects to lay over the top... but it never all got put together and covered (still in the garage) it was spaced out to eventualy be dynamated and sealed to make it really bassy but i lost interest and its now for sale lol

haha sub n amp are... i dont think that build is much good... as you can see, the top bits were abit mucky cus i cut the original build up to make it... so basicaly abit of carpet stuck to it... the peice below is a new bit but wasnt really built to the same quility as the first one and was chucked together to make it fit...

also bin sat in garage for months lol

i can prob giv you the dimensions to make it tho you can prob do a better job, i just wanted it made quickly...

how did you sound proof it? to get the bass?

the first one i did nothing... litraly the sub in the hole but like i said it was basicaly for background bass... and the second one i never completed it but was going to raise it and build a box underneath.so it would have been raised slightly.

I did it once sounded crap as the sub needs certain dimentions for it to work at full potential as it can eb two big of box so be floppy or to tight which means you blow the coil

how? Its perfectly plausable if you actaully think, bass is produced due to vibrations etcetc (basic GCSE science i pressume you know it) , mk3 rear windows are just a big square peice of glass at a 30 degree angle directly above the sub, vibrations go directly toward the glass, making it vibrate, the glass is large and flat so it will flex a fair bit. Put two and two together (and a certain pitch and volume) and you have a broken rear window!

even people with big power running in their car e.g. me onwards to people like mbh! aint had windows shattering.

so i wouldnt worry, no need to get cocky mate, and yes i know gcse physics, as i did A level physics and now am doing physics as part of my university major!

so to answer the question, its not gonna break
