I'm just wanting to know if anyones ever put a golf r32 engine in to a mk4 polo because I've got the oppertunity to buy one but I don't want to waste my money and be stuck with a engine. any help will be very helpful cheers

i don't know of an R32 engined mk4 Polo

there's been at least 2 UK mk4's with VR6's fitted

R32 motor isn't much larger than a VR6.....so i'd think it's possible

Do you realise that the VR6 engine is very impractical to maintain in the mk4 shell?, Id also be careful with it being only "slightly bigger" the VR6 barely fits as it is. Also it will have terrible handling, and fitting golf engines is very very much more of a job than just a normal engine swap.

If you want an R32 engine why don't you just by an R32 Golf ???? Jeeeezus fuckin' cristicals.

Because it would probably be a 1st if you had one in a mk4, and it would fucking fly.

i would think it would certainly "fly" in a polo but can see a 1.8t or 2.0t being abit more of a balance with your handleing... you will probily find a vr6 lump cheaper and get a charger for the price of an r32 lump which would mean more power at the end of the day.

of course you would probably need a RHD system aswell. 200+ horses in a Mk4 with FWD, no TCS and shitty ABS? hummmm.. would be interesting to see that around a hairpin...

I love how so many people jump on the band wagon to say "oh it'll handle shit" but have any of you actually been in a mk4 Polo with an R32 engine? A good suspension and subframe setup will help to keep things in check, if it was me I would put a bit of weight in the boot to help balance the car out. But theres no reason why you can do it. There are mk2 Golf Track cars out there with front mounted VR6 turbo's and they seem to pull decent times on the track because they have had a lot of time, thought and money put into well set up suspension.

Of Course, you could always put the Haldex 4WD system on it?

The reason VR6 Mk2s drive reasonably well is because the engine was actually designed for the Mk2 in the first place...

Weight balance is a major issue, but you can of course get round it with a decent suspension setup. Still won't be as good as a Mk2 with an ABF or KR or any other 4 pot though!

Also, I think the R32 takes up slightly less space than the original VR6s as it is more of a narrow angle, but I could be wrong.
