i am having trouble distinguishing between the 8v, 16v and gti bumpers on the 6n.

(or do the gti and 16v imply the same thing?)

From what I can gather, the 16v bumpers are the same as the german GTi bumpers.

The 16v/GTi bumpers are one piece, with a large centre grill and 2 smaller ones either side. The 8v ones are 2 piece, an upper plastic piece and a lower valace. The lower section held a single long grill.

so what is the standard one then? because there is one with a large centre grill and one small one each side.

The standard is the 2 piece. This one has one larger single grill.

Are you thinking of a smoothed 16v bumper? The top side thinner grills are often smoothed off, unfortuantly this this wasn't an OEM option and has to be done by a bodyshop.

Yep 8v=standard :)

It's a simple swap to put the 16v ones on, I did it myself and took a couple of hours to get the old ones off and new ones off in then rain

so i guess there are really only two choices when it comes to 6n bumpers unless you wanna go for non vag stuff.
