Some dippy cow hit the back of my car last night

I was on the path while my mate was looking under the bonnet to test my lights (which arrived yesturday see other posts). I was parked on the side of the road. Which was fine no yellow lines. But theres was a give way and a central speed bump a little way up the road. So this women driver gave way behind my car to let this over car past. When she went to oull out she hit the back end of my car. My car moved forward so it was clear she hit it, but she just drove off !! i caught her liecence plate and make and colour of the her car. reported it. So what wil happen now?? Will it come out of her insurance or will hers pay up?? My mate is a witness if she says she never and a fucking huge scratch on the backend. When i go to renew my insurance and it says have i made a claim, will that go down a claim??

you wont loose no claims unless you are insurasnce pays out

can phone police- driving away from a scene of an accident is against the law

I would ring the cops, personally, a written statement will help in an insurance claim.

I've had this myself, don't expect anything off the police except from being asked to bring your documents into the station.

yeah i had to this morning. they are gunna contact her then phone me.

but cos she never stopped and she didnt report out they said it isnt looking good for her.

I'm hoping she has insurance.

i gave the cops the registration of her car the make and colour aswel. i just got to play the waiting game according to them

Not really - if you use that site it will tell YOU if SHE is insured...

If she is - wait over - you know she is insured and the police / her insurance will sort it out from there.

Dont worry about prosecution for failing to stop at the scene - she will get a slap on the wrist by the law as she will say she didn't notice.

You will have to wait for the police to bring you her insurance details from the crime reference number you have - but this is just waiting for them to complete enquiries...

Because it happened to me... and the police did not do much apart from give me a reference number.. no waiting game no nothing.. I'm gonna be really thick here but I'm thinking.. if someone walked into a police station every other day and said that X car hit them and handed over the VRM.. would the police investigate?? may be its just my experience... and she could easily fix her car up over night as some do.. so others are none the wiser...

it says she has got insurace, and I've got my mate as a witness cos my car moved forward and hit him in the leg when she hit it. so shes buggered there, cos I've got some1 to back me up. its stacking against her really, not reporting an accident and not stopping at a scene of an accident.

Not really... if she does repair any damage to her car then it will just make things really hard to prove. Having said that I do hope she gets caught out and gets more than a slap on the wrist! Carry on!!

cos he thought i just closed the door or boot or summit like that. looked around to find it was someone who clearly cant drive. but I've had a phone call from the police and they are coming round mine in the moring to check damage and ask a few questions.

Cool. Hope they catch her and rape her.

well the cops were apparently too busy today to come round so they are calling tomorrow

i just want my car repaired, its annoying me now, knowing that the back bumper is scratched

hope u get it sorted! hope my hit and run gets sorted i will not let it drop and my 2 witness's are backing me as they believe the driver looked paraletic and is a danger to all!! :( gutting for us when *beeps* out there go round wrecking our cars. Good luck with it! x

the police has gone round the adress of the "owner" of the vehicle and he claims he's not (but his name and address is on the book) + it was a woman driver that hit my car

Sounds like someone who just sold their car and handed over the logbook with out sending it away.

then your well out of luck! i think he will still have to cover the cost tho, cos it is the responsibility of the seller to send off the v5 to the dvla if they sell the car.

If he sold the car and didnt send that off- he is still responsible for the car.

not sure if it is that simple in real life tho... rubbish

Good luck getting the CPS to try and prosecute that! He'll never be held responsible for the costs if he's sold the car to someone else. For all we know, the V5C could still be in transit.

It's probably game over for you buddy unless he can provide the new owners details to the police which I doubt. Sometimes the insurance details for the car is held on PNC even if the DVLA haven't updated it with the new owner details, so it may be worth asking the cops if they can follow it up with the Motor Insurance Bureau. Probably easiest stumping up the repairs yourself rather than go through insurers, and probably a lot cheaper in the long run if it's only a scratch.

I've took to parking it on my mates drive way now lol. ill probs end up getting it repaired myself, the amount of time its taken them to get this far (which isnt far at all) is a joke tbh.
