Dangerous Driving?

Featured Replies

I was driving on my way to the jet wash. I took a left onto a main A road. The traffic lights were green. I know this means go but obciously not to proceed if the crossing is not clear. The crossing was clear. There was this lady contemplating crossing. As I took the turn she stepped out. I slowed down. She ran in front of me and made the crossing. An unmarked police car was observing this. They pulled me over and put it down to "Dangerous Driving." What happens now? I really cannot afford to lose my license. I rely on it for work. There are no witnesses. No footage of the event. Its a shame they did not get the lady and give her an ear bashing for playing chicken with traffic. I saw her and I reacted. This is where it got me. What can I do? Are there any recommended Motoring and Road Offence lawyers? So many to choose from. Thanks guys.

A very gutted and upset,

Super G

dnt wri..prison food aint that bad.

..they will drop charges.. they only do that to shit people up. probs cus they didnt have anything else to do.

So if you had hit her you would have been in the clear? but because you stopped to avoid her they threw the book at you.

What a waste of taxpayers money paying coppers like this. No Witness & No footage = No Evidence which in turn means they cant do you for it.

yeh it'll get passed to raffic police, and because there is most likely no evidence, unless they have a front facing camera in the police car?, and no witnesses then there is nothing they can do.

Green means go you have the right of way, Amber is go only if safe to do so, we all know what Red means = hoes nearby

i was always under the impression unmarked cars were traffic police? and if that was so surly if they was gonna do u they would have there and then? probs just trying to shit you up mate.

Luckily no.. not all unmarked police cars are traffic.. I overtook an unmarked police car in an area where it is deemed "unsafe" to do so.. if they were traffic cops I would have 12 points now.. not 9

EDIT: recieved none for this particular manouver ;)

t70543205bes, what are the other 9  points for ?

I dont think dangerous driving would stand up. You drove through a green light with someone waiting at the crossing, as people do every day. The fact that she ran out, and you stopped to avoid hitting her doesnt mean there is anything dangerous about your driving. That is pretty unbelievable - i doubt it would hold up in court.

'So, the case from the prosecution is as follows: You, the accused, are charged with dangerous driving for stopping to avoid hitting a pedestrian, who ran across the road when the traffic signal was green.'

Judge: 'Case dismissed'

The only way i can see this happening is if you saw that she was trying to cross and sped up to make it a bit more difficult for her. What did the police say they were doing you for, other than dangerous driving?

That's all they said they were doing me for.. "DD" but.. I thought I was being followed which is why I floored it a bit.. to test out this idea... I took a left instead of going straight ahead.. they followed.. and they would have had to avoid her too! My turn was not sharp as the cops suggested. It became a sharp one because I had to swerve and brake to miss her.. missed her by miles.. so I drive about a mile of this road.. and then he stops me!! There were no blue lights and no sirens.. so I had no idea it was the police. I guess there are many angles it can be looked at from.

I was talking to a barrister for some friendly advice and he seems to agree... but the courts only consider what you put in the Police statement.. now they write it.. and twist it to their delight to make it biased. I made sure I got all the key points in. It is a waste of CPS time. I think its a weak case. I had just cause to put pedal to metal so lets see what happens. I'm planning ahead anyhow because I need a solicitor who will argue my points.. that could make or break it all for me.

Cheers dubbers
