''Full Service History''

What exactly does 'Full service history' mean?

I was under the impression that a fully stamped service book up until the current service would be full service history. But that wasnt

good enough for someone who came to view my car today. They expected a pile of receipts to prove that work had been done. What else....a service book made of gold?!! My car has a few receipts for services etc but its had 3 owners and a piece of paper is pretty dam easy to lose.

Fairly obvious statement given your story but it would depend on the person. I'd have been with you in expecting the stamps in the books but I suppose there is a case to argue that a FULL history would include receipts and the like. To be honest I've seen plenty of shaggers with full service history so for me it aint the best indication of a good car anyway.

Nope, FSH means you have to have video evidence of a main stealer doing the service, for each date, and every date for the next 5 years

People expect the weirdest things

Joking aside, youre right, just a stamped book IS service HISTORY, receipts for parts used/replaced is documented service history - AFAIK :?

What car are you selling now?

tbh stamps in the book mean nothing to me either i bought my mk4 off a copper who'd stamped the book for all services claimed to have the cambelt and various other things done what a load of phish! i can understand why they want receipts

FSH to me means that the book has been stamped from the word go with all the services ever carried out. Receipts to me are just a bonus.

I was really lucky when I got my car. Had been serviced by the same garage all its life and has a receipt for every little bit of money spent on it including valets!

But reciepts are easy lost, after all it usually is just a little piece of paper.

If the book is stamped up with a proper garage's stamp and has been filled in properly I'd trust the work has been done.

Stamped up book is a FSH to me.

Stamped up book is a FSH to me.

thats bullshit though you can buy the stamps on ebay and stamp up a book far too easily :-o

In that case it depends on the person whos selling the car, if the car is say in manchester and all the stamps are from Luton i'd b suspicious

End of the day its common sense, if it looks like a shitter but has FSH i wouldnt think I'm means much but if its in VGC then i'd belive the service history is legit

ebay buyers are fucking tools at the best of times, i would fully just kick off that when they bid and won the car they entered a legally binding contract and the only thing that can really stop them buying it is if the vin number on the logbook doesnt match the car.

non-refundable deposits on auction end is the only way to get rid of timewasting c**ts

ebay car buyers=shit

FSH should mean a fully stamped book is acceptable - but what about other things on the car that may have been done?

Personally I'd be happy with just the book stamped.

i wouldn't trust a service book for shit.

I can reset pretty much any service light and I have 2 or 3 VW dealer stamps. I would never bother but history is easily faked.

If I really wanted I could buy cars off ebay knock back the milegae, give it a service stamp last year and the this year and sell it on.

no reciept = no work

new business venture for us G-man? 8-)

Just ring up some of the stamp dealerships to check if it was serviced there. If its main dealer work, then all they usually need is the vehicle registration to tell you exactly what work got done whilst in there.

as long as its had its cambelt done recently and there are no strange noises I'm happy

stamped book and a stack off reciepts!

agreed

have to agree with all the comments here like, first i would take a stamped book as proof of a service history, receipts are nice, but tell you exactly the same thing to be fair.

Ebay can be dodgy as hell! iv bought a few good cars off there, but i would still recommend you go see any car your gonna spend more than a few hundred quid on!

As for turning the clocks back and stamping a book- yeah, anyone can do that and its not hard, but i guess its a risk you take with every car, off the net or in the autotrader... the only car you know everything about is the one you have had from new- or for a few years at least! thats why i cant bring myself to part with my mk4, well that and the fact i trust NO ONE! lol

Had a 'discussion' about this once before, several years ago, with someone in the trade. His take was:

FSH - Fully Stamped book, including receipts to prove each service. Plus MOT's to substantiate a LOW mileage car.

Service History - Only book OR receipts available.

I think a few years back a few garages got caught out with saying FSH, & only having a stamped book, then got stung for repair bills that alleged services should of carried out (cambelts etc).

The one that does make me laugh is the 'part' service history, or service history 'up to' xxx miles. Means absolutely diddly!

I would say that a record of the services a car has had in the past would be a history or it's service record...

If it hasn't missed a service to date, then it would have a full service record or history if you like.

Your comment is absolute...if you don't mind me saying....b*ll*cks!

What you're actually talking about is proof of a full service history....

It is entirely possible for a car to have a FSH, whether you have the paperwork to prove it or not!

Exactly!, people need to actually understand here

Full Service History - means its been serviced at the right times/mileage etc, proof of that history would be dealer stamps (i know it can be forged)

Receipts of parts used just meens the service history has been documented

On a totally different (but relevant) level...... Would you people who beleive FSH means stamped book and receipts, say that Jesus never exsisted if there wasnt a huge fucking book written in which talks about him on more than one occasion?

Just because there is no "bible", does not mean there wasnt a sandle wearing mofo walking about who we know as Jesus :-p:lol:8-)

Same thing can be applied for any famous documented historic events

Service history is just that - a record of the services, I'd class anything else as repair history. The reason you get heaps with FSH is people get the service done get the stamp but do not get any extra work done.

Any dealer should be happy to give you any history if you just ask or at least confirm the services are genuine. I used to have an old audi and the servcing dealer printed off the full history there was pages and pages (12years worth) of it no probs.

Fookin hilarious.....love it! :-D

It was comment as opposed to my point of view, so no offence taken! ;)

I believe the overall condition of the car speaks volumes, you can usually tell if its been looked after just by looking over it carefully. FSH isn't the sum of the whole car.

but the first bible was writen 500 years after mr sandle wearing mofo was meant to of existed, and there is no proof what so ever that he existed apart from a book written half a century later based on story's that had been passed from mouth to mouth since around the time the story was based.

so what your actually saying mr walsh, is that if you have a fully stamped book it may or may not mean that it has full service :?
