Need a roof rack?

Featured Replies

Was down the scrappers last week and saw this, just in time as i was in some need of polo inspiration....

From what i gathered after looking around the car it looked to be some sort of private commercial vehicle due to the tinted windows & its carrying capabilities.

If you look close you can see the fixings (6 inch nails) this particular setup means the nails go all the way through the roof and through the headlining

You can see effort has been made with the waterproofing of the holes that are now present from the huge nails used to fix the mounting blocks to the roof, it looks to have been solved by using some bathroom sealent.

However the wood wasnt treated. Which let the whole thing down IMO

I didnt get a look at the catch, think it went to the crusher not long after..

Worst thing was, it was the best mk3 shell id ever seen in the scrappers. Paint was really good on it.

hahaha,

There is a dude around here with a Pug 405 Estate (I think?) and hes basically make a roof basket in a similar way. Hes basically got 4 pieces of wood, made a box out of them and just nailed it into his roof. Its quality, I'll take a pic if I see it about again. Although he hasn't gone as far as to paint it
