depends what sort of driving you do! motorway driving i would expect quite high pressure about what you are currently running to keep mpg up!

but if you are doing racing you would expect low pressures due to better grip... round town you would want something in the middle would say 30-32 would be a good town pressure...

sounds high to me.. i run 30psi.

to put into perspective i was running a radical sr4 on the weekend and we wer puting 14psi into the tires and the driver said his handleing was amazing...

but at the same time on the way home we put 40psi onto my mates car and got a real different in mpg to what we got on the way there something like 5mpg but his tires were like 25psi.

40psi.. bet it felt abit light tho. wouldnt like too make a evasive turn with that sort of pressure.

mayb just me but seems abit too much.

29 psi all round

26 up front 31 at the rear in the golf

can't beat arse out action

Differences being that the radical is a race car that is probably running stiff walled slicks...car weighs bugger all and the tyres will get really hot on track bumping up the pressure inside the tyre a lot. Bet if you measured the Radical tyres after a flying lap they would have been well into the 20's.

You should inflate your tyres to the amount recommended in your hand book/on your car. Too much pressure and you'll wear the middle section down too quickly, too little and you'll wear the outsides.

well yeah obviously tire pressures increase after a while n obviously road car tires increase as well...but i was just trying to show the difference between something like race car were they are after maximum grip and something thats after an economical run...

I run preferably aroun 35psi all round as i do quite a few miles every week so i can expect that to drop quite rapidly(as i found out at weekend with 10psi in the rear),

Indeed but maximum grip wouldn't be available in a road car at 14PSI...so it isn't a direct comparison...it just shows that light weight race cars need less pressure.

Hey guys I've just got a mk 4 last week its got 16" wheels on, Just wondering what pressure would be good for these size of wheel.

in the book it says to be run at 21 psi?

I would be running around 28-32 psi nothing above and nothing below really unless you have streatched tyres ..

in the book it says to be run at 21 psi?

In mine it says 2.1 BAR (which is 30 PSI)

i run my Mk3 at 24psi all round on 165/60r14's

30 psi on stretch bad boys

Depends on the season, but its currently 32f/31r.

The car weighs 725kgs and is on 185x55x14s.

I'm a lazy bastard, if it's a car, I just stick 30 in everything.
