I used POR15 from Frost on mine.

hammerite works for me :)

rustoleum on mine....can near enough match most colours and its pretty tough

To do the Derby, i stripped all of the factory stuff off all four arches, leaving the VW primer behind (grinding back the rusy bits of course). Then three coats of Bondaprimer (well recommend this it's fantastic stuff) and then a coat of Upol Gravitex. You can paint the Gravitex to match your car's colour then. Looks really sweet.

Alternatively you could just slap a coat of underseal on there!
