Hi all,

Right the buzzing noise coming from my front components in my 6n was making a really annoying buzzing/humming/wheering noise. I wiggled with the RCA's and it stopped for a bit, then i hit a bump in the road and it came back. Worse. Now it runs according to my revs. The higher i accelerate the louder it gets, then when i put my clutch in it gets quieter. Last night i wedged something it between the two RCA plugs at the amp and it stopped for a bit, but now its back and there's nothing i can do to stop it.

Do you think its the Amp or the RCA's. Hopefully it'll be the amp cos i got a new one on the way.

normally due to power cables too near speaker cables

in agreement with pete, thats why when wiring up a sub and amp you have power lead going down one side of the car and the rca's on the other so you dont get the buzzing noise(aka interfearance)

My RCA's and Power Cable are running down opposite sides of the car?

two things, i would say that came up one my systems,

one head unit may not be earthed properly, but in my case i had to earth the RCA leads (the outer edge in the preouts from the back of the head unit wrap wire round then other end attch to headunit but a existing screw)

other option if that doesnt stop it is buy a supressor, halfords £3.99 attaches to alternator intruction on box.

hope this helps try the pre out thing first i think it will fix it its hard to explain. get a wire and wrap it round the rca cable then plug into the preouts and earth it.

New update lol, I wrapped some wire around to preouts and earthed them. (Also blew the sound system and central locking fuse twice when i put the head unit back in the slot?) This made the noise quieter, but its still there. Its gets higher pitched with higher revs. Does anyone have any more ideas, or any more info on the suppressor?

I had a Sony one, but trying to fix the buzzing i dropped it and broke the flip down front. So last night i bought a new JVC one, and its still doing it on this. One thing i have just thought, the RCA and Power lead run down opposite sides, but they cross at the amp? Would this cause the noise? I have earthed the rca's, which made it quieter, and i have just bought a ground loop isoltor, which i think made it a bit quiter still, but its still there and gets quite loud at about 4000rpm

Its doing my head in.

Jus found a thread about interferance. Someone said that any interferance pick up pre amp will be amplified through the amplifier. Is this true? I have the power cable running down the passenger side and the cable from the amp to the passenger side xover running down the passenger side too. Could this be my problem?

Any help greatly appreciated
