good luck, you will need it

i doubt you will get insured for anythingless than 2 grand thats if your lucky

depending on how you insure it. Id say the mimum would be £1500 and about £500 excess lo and thats with it 3rd party and you as named drivers using say your mums no claims.

the worst would probably be about £3000+ and thats your own policy, fully comp, all legal cover etc and 0 excess.

DO your own checks. Gon confused or go compare and have a look, just say that your 17 not 16 :)

cheapest quote i got was 1200 with Frizzell (part of LV) that was f/c in my mums name at 17.

looking to renew now and cheapest is Tesco at 680 f/c and going from what other people have said about their insurance with them its approx 150 extra for mods

wouldnt go for the 16v mate its ridiculous, i have a 1.4 8v and the cheapest I've come across is £2,100 t/f/t on my own policy with mum as named driver and I've been searching for ages.

I'll be paying £780 third party fire & theft for my 1997 1.4CL with direct line, thats with 10% discount online, me as named driver and dad as main, multicar discount (mums car is with them) and discount for having house insurance with them. God knows how much it would be for a 16v, I think I remember it being around £1400 even with those discounts. They also don't accept mods, so don't expect to be lowering suspension and getting decent alloys if you go with them.

Sorry I couldn't help too much, hope it gives you a guideline price :)

i got quoted 2800 own policy in a high risk area

check out sites like elephant, you can get comparitive quotes instantly and its easy to change details (8v/16v etc)

i have a 6n 8v and thought about 16v, but insurance was stupid,,, and I'm tight!

BTW- your reg plate looks more like MILFS than MILES, which i find very amusing

One of my mates (who is on here) is paying ~£2800 TPF&T which is outrageous for at the end of the day is a 1.4 Polo

forget it!! even if you can afford the insurance! 100bhp is far too much for a 17 year old, you will kill someone or yourself!!

get an old 1 litre to rag for a year or two mate!! this was my first car and it still cost me a grand on insurance!!!!

I agree - as I was mentioning to VeeDub Fox, a MK3 1.0 is fine too. I'm only 19 and on my second car, and I didnt NEED a 1.2 clio even, in fact, wish I'd have gone for a 1.0 Polo and saved on insurance first time round.

Polo insurance seems particularly steep though! :?

I'd expect it to be on the MK3 G40 or similar, but the 1.4 16v is hardly worth what it costs to insure as a young driver for the performance.

I'm payin 1100 in my own name with all mods decliared on a GT, 18 0ncb

:lol::lol: ^^^ all mods declared?? this is very doubtful.. most insurance companies dont let under 21's have modifications..

secondly a GT is a higher rate car..

you have an illegal G40 cup-car straight through exhaust.. which no company would insure you with.. port and polished dewedged throttle body.. £400 quids worth of suspension which is down 95mm on front.. G40 lights with a LHD passenger rear cluster.. tinted windows all round.. alloys.. uprated tyres and a £800 quid sound system?

are you sure you declared that short list that i can think of that i did to that car?

dont mean to bitch.. but i had a lot of trouble insuring that car hence why i sold it to you..

i disagree with said statement, I'm insured with admiral and they cover modifications under categories such as "exhaust/manifold system changes" which covers you for anything you change exhaust wise.

Its the same with additional audio cover, I myself have £800 worth of equipment but am covered for £750 as part of the standard policy.

Everything bar the port/polished TB is easy to enough to delcare with 90% of mainstream insurers. As for declaring the port/polished TB I wouldn't personally declare, not like they're gonna rip it apart to see it in the event of an accident, chances are its TPF&T so there's less chance of it being assessed at all.

my main point wa that his exhaust is illegal..

i know this as it used to be my car.

it as a race exhaust, and in the event of an accident this would be easily seen and the insurance would not pay out, so telling them.. 'i have a non-road use race exhaust' would definatly end in them voiding your policy.
