Hello!!

GT engine went into my mk2 this weekend. Started at lunch time on Saturday and worked until about 5pm. Sunday worked from 12 until 12 and then finished it off on Monday afternoon. Drove it home on monday night :-) Had no exhaust and just the stainless manifold and it was stupid loud!! Pretty good going to get it all done i think.

Was fun using a monster forklift to drop the engine in :-)

Big thanks to Skatty01 who was awesome and a massive help and a good laugh too Also thanks to GTjenny for her help with being a taxi for the weekend. Also Thanks to max crox for his more than helpful PM's and build thread. Jez1272gt also deserves thanks as the engine and bits he sold me are spot on. Anyone else who gave me any information thankyou too :-)

Had a few bits to work out and some soldering and head scratching but all in all it went very smoothly.

spec on engine so far: GT enigne, induction, stainless four branch and longlife stainless straight through exhaust system.

God that was a knackering weekend, the thread is worthless without pics fool! Was glad we got it in though, nice feeling of achievement to mix with the back pain and chest infection haha. Only reason it didnt fire first time was because the loom connectors through the firewall weren't quite pushed together properly, which is quite cool...

THough when we did fire it we may have discovered some slight issues with fuel pipe leakage!!! And it was pretty comedy when your dad kicked that big petrol canister over in my direction!

Still, a good job well done and well worth the effort. Get pics up mr B

Sounds like a jet. No joke its comical loud. Four about ten mins until you have perforated eardrums :-)

It wasn't when i was lying square underneath trying to guide it down with the 4-branch!!! Really was bricking it, i had visions of it slipping off the sling and crushing my head.

It was awesome. Forks move forwards and backwards, left and right. Meant that my dad could fractionally adjust the position as it was lowered in. So much easier than the crane we used last time :-)

Or just plain retarded hahahaha. That probably wasn't the best plan! I think one of the worst moments of the weekend was having to wait like 3 hours for a fag til i got fed up of worrying about being a human fireball, after being soaked in petrol from the poorly drained tank.

And fuck you too barney Without you you would still have two engines on pallets, and even if you got it in you'd never do the driveshafts - god himself couldnt do it, right? Haha love you babez x x x x

What bhp do you reckon you'll be getting out of it then? And did you keep to the original dash, or did you swop it? I'm interested in doing the same transplant, or a g40, but info for the future would be a nice thing to have. Good work though, be interested to see it in action!

Well if you are only in kendal you are welcome to come down and have a look at it. Goes quite nicely and thats with no exhaust on as yet (fitted tomorrow) so the back pressure is minimal.

Dash is the mk2 one as dash conversion is a pain in the balls. If you get the chance to pop down sometime feel free. Can have a look at how its done. GT is a nice upgrade and doesn't carry the price tag or running cost associated with a G40 engine. Although deep down everyone who has a polo wants a G40 :-)

Although, a GT conversion makes a hell of a lot of sense... Cheaper to buy, drop in, run and maintain, as well as to insure! And you don't have to worry half as much. Justr a shame they're nowhere near as quick as a G lol.
