Good points: A beautiful untouched example of a Mk1 Polo complete with chrome parts, original owners manual, faux wood dash, brown carpets etc. The original owner before me was an old lady who literally did 1000 miles a year to church for the first 20 years of the car's life - The original dealer service book proves this. I bought 'Erol' 7 years ago and have had no major problems at all with this reliable classic. I live in a small flat in a very congested capital city and cannot justify keeping her anymore. She's been off the road for about 3 years, under cover, and due to my parking space going I have to sell her now - Reluctantly. Over the 7 years she's been serviced regularly, had a new cam belt and alternator 2000 miles ago. I had her looked over by a professional VW restorer a couple of months ago and he listed the MOT failure points (not many listed below) , took apart the carb’ and gave it a service and a once over and installed a brand new battery so she now runs sweetly but, see below for the bad bits. The main body work / paint is superb, she still shines in the sun and has never seen a lick of paint since she left Wolfsburg 30 years ago. The spare wheel has never seen the light of day and is brand spanking new.

Bad points: The main MOT failure point was the slight rusting in the sills. This is a small job for someone with a garage. There is the usual minor rusting and seals wearing away such as where the battery is kept and water gets into the boot via the boot lid but no rust so far but will need sorting. The sill that the drivers side window is kept up with has gone and will need a new mechanism for winding the window and new lock barrel. Will need new window wiper blades and a bulb. There are small rust patches on the chrome bumpers, the rear lower sill and surface rust on the wheels which can easily be sanded off (chrome hub caps are mint). The cap off the bumper end front has gone. Mechanically and electrically she is great but the exhaust is blowing slightly and will need to be looked at. A pro’ VW restorer listed all the things that need to be done (said it’s half a day’s work for someone with half an idea of what they are doing) which I will show you and I have kept all receipts, bills MOT certificates etc so you can see that this the real deal with genuine mileage. She really is a unique, great looking car - I've been stopped in the street on many occassions by admirers of her and folks wanting to buy her. I am genuinely sad to see her go.
