if you look on ebay you can get legal ones. the reason they are not legal is that they are not reflective however some like mine off ebay have a reflective film on them therefore are legal

The font will still be wrong. The reflective issue has been talked about many times on here. They don't reflect in the same way as normal plastic plates do.

Also, whenever you buy plates from ebay, I think you will find that they all say, "for show use only".

Most aren't retro-reflective ie return light to the light source just reflective and scatter the light allover.
