Polo's gone, civic's progressing...

Featured Replies

Well some of you might remember my old squareback but its gone now and I'v got my hands on an EJ2 civic coupe. Just thought I'd let you all know what I'v moved on to.

Heres my old polo for those of you who dont know:

Unfortunatly the person I sold it to got caught driving it without a licence and has now been impounded. So its future is uncertain. :?

I bought the civic in january when it was traded in to my work. Wasn't in the best of condition but It was too good an offer to turn down.

Heres the pics of when I first bought it:

I then kept my eyes open for goodies and the first one to crop up was a 1.6 DOHC Vtec B16A2 conversion with a recently rebuilt gearbox with cusco LSD and a J's racing style induction kit. I'll repaint the rocker cover with red wrinkle paint so it looks a bit more OEM rather than chav-tastic.

Also got this bumper but I'm not really sure if its going on. Just dont think the lip will go with the rest of the car.

After that I got my hands on some Azev A replicas that I got in exchange for a camshaft.

Thought I'd give the front end a different look so I painted the insides of the headlamps and indicators to give a tinted effect.

That was only temporary until I finish these off:

The unit on the left is the original projector from the headlight but the one on the left is a HID unit from a Discovery 3. The problem is the dimensions are totaly different. Length, width, lense diameter and the fact I have to rewire the uprated loom to run the coil pack and full beam solenoid.

Last weekend I saw an advert in ScotAdsfor some VTI wheels local to me. Went to have a look and ended up buying them.

Put on a couple of tyres today and quite happy with the results.

Just passed its MOT today so big smiles all round! :-) Got it booked into the bodyshop next month to sort out the small patches of rust on the rear so should be looking all spanking.

Still on the hunt for rear disc conversion and the hubs to take the larger front discs. I'll get coilovers in a couple of months time. Also looking for a decent exhaust for the coup but both of these have to wait until I have the engine rebuilt. the 1.5 has a leaky sump and I refuse to spend money on an engine I'll be putting in the bin!

Thanks for reading.

Cheers,

Scott

Dels civic has a B18 in it which is a 1.8 whereas the b16 is a 1.6 but the plan is to turbo my b16 and have 200bhp. ;)

Coilovers were planned for a couple of months time. Think I might get some cheap springs to tide me over. :D

The colour was always a touchy point for me but after a good clean, polish and getting the new wheels on its really growing on me!

my bf has a civic too :-) they look bloody lush! although I've kinda converted him to a polo enthusiast! :-D

nice progress.

if you don't have any plans to use the azev's al take them back off your hands for a fair price ;)

Love that Polo

always loved you are old sqaure always rememberd it as that low one lol, liking the new car.

i would'nt mind a white EK9 JDM civic r, sound bloody awesome

Ok, thought I'd update seeing as i've been quite busy. Haven't finished the head lights yet and I blame that firmly on laziness. The Azev A replicas have finally been stripped of their paint ready to get sand blasted and powder coated but that'll have to wait until my funds recover!

Fitted a splitter from a Seat Leon Cupra and it seems to tie in quite well:

Bought some goodies last month. Coilovers and front and rear camber kits:

DSC00914.jpg

Went to fit them but the first bolt I touched sheared:

DSC00915.jpg

So had to bodge a temporary repair in the mean time:

Bit of MIG works wonders!

My only options were to buy new bushes or get new arms. But the thought of the other bolts being seized led me to buy new arms and bolts.

DSC00954.jpg

Whilst I was through collecting the arms I got me a rear disc conversion and a double length radiator (no pics):

DSC00941.jpg

I'll fit the disc conversion after I've sand blasted and painted them up.

Took me 13 hours to fit the suspension because the bastard car was fighting me all the way!

Thats only a few of them. I was happy when everything was on the car though:

I didn't go too low otherwise I wouldn't have been able to get the 4 wheel alignment equipment on and I'm away to Ireland next month so I'm a bit worried about the ferry!

I'll put up some decent pictures in the near future.

Cheers,

Scott

then i sold that and got the EG VTI what a fookin monster it was the guty who i got it off had the gear box rebuilt and had the final drive changed it used to keep up with motor bikes on pull off

but ont he other hand i could sit in 5th doin 120 hittting the limiter

i love that square back! Looked mint!

each to their own, i couldnt have chopped that sq back for that tho

sick, smooth it with some phat 13s and drop her more, and get that engine in! love that colour too

So who´s next with buying a hucking Fonda? Tav or Ross?

Really liking the work your doing on the Civic so far man, all quality mods, and subtle too.

When're you getting the Azevs on, the look fucking deadly sitting against her in that picture?

So who´s next with buying a hucking Fonda? Tav or Ross?

Well Del sold the G40 to Stuart to buy a VTi-S. Steven (hawyzie) sold his Mk4 1.4 CL to buy a JDM EK9 Civic Type R. Stuart got another G40 before selling it on and buying a JDM Integra Type R... our friend Callum has a VTi Coupe as well....

Ross will never have a Honda, that is one thing I can be sure of  He's not the worlds biggest fan! I'd consider having an Integra Type R as a daily, it's the only one that has really made me go  to date...no plans on selling the Polo yet though...or ever...just going to make it more track friendly and less road friendly.
