basicly mate, from what iv heard and read up on them the cheap coillies are good for cheap slamming but unless u want to only drive it down the motorway or not go anywhere near any shite roads i'd steer clear, the coillies i mentioned above are all pretty decent and i think I'm gona go for the AP ones as they'r basicly just rebranded FK's but about £100+ cheaper but these are what people have recommended to me. ment to be very comfy and good all round coilovers. and not too bad on the pocket really, unless you compare them to ebay ones.

but its worth getting decent ones as theres no point loving the car if the drive is shit

AP stuff is produced in the same factory as Weitec and KW. The springs are the big difference between Weitec and AP, apparently.

Also the Weitec Hicon GT only lower 65mm on a 9N (not sure on older models). AP lower more.

btw. that factory that produces all this stuff is 1.7 miles long :) so I'm not sure it's saying a lot being produced in the same place.

I was down at Awesome this afternoon, which is why I know this, and was driven in Andy's Fabia on Wietec GTs (it's a 9n underneath remember). It rode very nice (205/45x16) but wasn't as low as I'd have liked and was wound all the way down at the back.

From what rob on here told me when i was round at his a few weeks ago the AP's go VERY low when he had them on his vento.

So basicly the AP's are the same as the weitec hicon gt's (£475) but with different springs which can be lowered much more as the hicons on the 6n go down to 70mm whilst the APs go to 90mm but again have been told they go much lower and only a £150 price difference

Also if it wasnt as low as wanted could i not just get some lowering top mounts as these are ment to drop it another 10-15mm and also take out the helper springs as thats ment to allow it to go even lower again. (are top mounts only for the front or are they for the back aswell?)

The Hicon GT lowers 65mm (for a 9n at least). That isn't quite enough at the back without removing bits to go lower.

Definatly agree with that, I'm hoping to get some 15's but stil as low as possible on 15's without shaggin my arches

weitec kit or something like bilstein b10's are 60mm kits and suposedly good quality just not sure if wanna be fixed height if u gonna go on a long trip with a few salad dodgers in the back

I'm still not sure... but handily i have too many other things to pay for before then so got some time to make my mind up :-D

Fair point about cheap coilovers. I'd go for AP.

btw. Fixed or coilover you're still gonna need thinner mates. :)

I want the novelty of being able to adjust the height because as said above if I'm going low distances then i will want it a lil bit higher and also I'm only on standard 16v alloys (14") atm so want to be able to change them to get the perfect stance when i get the 15's.

Not to sure about the supersports as some people iv spoken to have said the ride is super hard and the adjustable ones go from very hard to very very very hard, i think the way they wer described to me was they could tell if driving over a 50p if it was head or tails up lol.

shoki; iv heard some good things about the ak's, i was looking into them as iv been offered some new for 250 but i was under the impression that they didnt lower that much really :( not 100% as id have to see for myself or see pics of a 6n sitting very low on them.

AMD; iv not used a fixed drop before but for 230 you should get a good ride but i personally would like more of a variation ie different heights for different situations like you can get with coilovers and at the end of the day they only say £50 more for some of the ones i mentioned in my 1st post.

the thing is that the AK's and the highsports its only have like £100 difference, so logically if u wanted better stuff pay the £100 more, but still its £100 more which could pay for the fitting?! what do you people think?

You seem to be under the impression that you can easily change the ride height with coilovers. Each time you play with it you should really be getting the suspension settings changed accordingly. This costs money each time you do this remember.

How do you mean get the setting changed? all that i can think of that would change would be the camber very slightly, and if i was to say raise it 30mm for a weekend and then drop it back down again, then not much would change at all. obviously once i first get them fitted, which i intend on doing myself then all i shall need is to take it down my local garage and get the tracking and camber adjusted.

It's camber specifically that I'm thinking of.

Obviously tracking is unaffected.

It's probably healthy to adjust coilover height relatively regularly as that will prevent seizing up, something that happens on pretty much all coilovers (zinc coated etc or not) unless you're careful.

I think the best way is, as you say, moving the platforms and lubing frequently. I've heard of those bags but I'm not convinced they'll work in practice.
