gear box went today so car will be off the road for sometime!

any tips/advice with regard to sourcing gearboxes other than ebay and how hard they are to fit!?

mine went this week 2day buddy!!! Pain in the ass when the gearbox is shot. Was ready for a new remaped ECU chip this week!!! ah well.

I've got a Mk4 GLX! Gonna be around £500 for gearbox + fitting. :( You can go down the scrappy route if you wish. Just make sure you have the gearbox code ready! I'm using Central Audi + VW in Birmingham. Dropping my car round tomorrow!

got the car back today after a new gearbox fitted, I'm now 430 english pounds worse off :(

will get some snaps once I've given it a good clean as it was left under a sap dripping tree ast the garage which was nice of them!

:-D yer they go lower mate, have about an inch of thread on the front and a bit more on the rear i think.

problem is scrubbage, one arch has crumbled inside and is very sharp so cuts my tyre tread :'(

needs attention however my drive isnt suitable for jacking or using stands so have to do it in my mates garage and his mini is having an engine translplant atm so cant get in there!

i also got pulled by the fuzz on saturday and told my wheels were illegal and if i didnt get them inside the arch the local bobby would

"throw the book at me" which was oh so pleasant of him.

they wheels did stick out more before but i put the 10mm spacers back on and slapped the 20mm up front.

it has been resprayed by the previous owner, have hgad the rub strips off before and the colour/ layer difference is awful!!
