Since buying me current G40, i've become increasingly intrested in better quality products for cleaning it. I used to not believe in all the detailing malarky and thought alot of the products could be found in cheaper alternatives. I was proved wrong, by myself, when i bought some Poorboys Natty's Blue paste.

Been spending alot of money over at Polished Bliss and have built up a wee collection of nice things, which i've really enjoyed using.

Borrowed Mikes Porter Cable (which, if you'll sell it Mike, i'll take), and set about to polish my car. Tav was over at the time, and after seeing his car i thought i'd like to see the difference on his car, more than mine, just to see what it can really do.

Had been over in the morning to Polished Bliss and had picked up some products, along with some awesome advice from Richard, so thanks for that Rich. Got some Menzerna Finishing Polish, Menzerna Top Inspection, a light cutting pad, and a few other bits and bobs.

Pidge also leant me his Menzerna 302 and some harder 3M cutting pads.

Heres some of the products used on the car.

The car had been use pretty hard since Tav had fitted his new brakes, and half his EBC Green Stuff pads were on his front wheels.

Some Megs Wheel brightener at 4:1 in favour of water, along with a wheel back brush and my "stabbing" brush saw all the dirt fall off these nicely powdercoated wheels.

I don't have any pics of the boring bits but the car was then rinsed, washed using Zymol Auto Wash and a Lambs wool mitt, then dried with a Waffle Weave.

Before machining it i had to nip back to Polished Bliss to get some Final Touch so i could clay the car fully.

Some folk saw the car tonight, and didn't get to see it in it's original state, but for those people, here's the bonnet...

I used Menzerna 302 with a hard cutting pad, on speed 5 with the Porter Cable. And going on the advice of Richard, i worked it in and did a good 10-15 passes over each area.

I then followed up the whole bonnet with the Menzerna finishing polish which gave it a crystal clear finish and was like glass to touch.

Also the C-Pillar which was horrible before, is so much better now.

After the polishing was complete i gave the car a wipe down with the Menzerna Top Inspection. I'm glad this was offered to me by Richard as the polishing oils were more stubborn than i thought they'd be to remove without it. Great product.

The wax i use on my own car is what i used on Tav's. Poorboys Natty's Blue paste wax. I love working this stuff and it smells so nice :)

Unfortunately we didn't get any finished pics of the car as the camera battery died. But i was very, very happy with the finish.

The tyres were dressed with Blackfire tyre dressing and the bumpers done with Auto Glym Bumper Care. Windows were cleaned with neat Windowlean followed by Auto Glym Glass Polish.

Overall i think the car has totally transformed. I can fully appreciate why Tav was raving about this colour all along now, and indeed, its lovely to see.

My first time using the machine polisher, and I'm sure i've got much to learn!

I've done exactly the same mate, thought id crack on and clean the polo, cleaned and polished etc

Went out afterwards, came back, mashed up flies, dust all over it! NOT HAPPY

So chuffed with the bonnet now...the before and after shots show what a stinking mess it was. Stuart did a great job on the car and spent just about all afternoon on it, so cheers min!

I'm afraid I'll have to save super shiny finished shots for another wash....did 80+ miles tonight after going out with people work from diner...blast about in the country for a couple of hours...then gave Pidge and Del a lift into town for some drinkies...I can just tell its going to be manky when I go out to it tomorrow. Dirt should just fly off though now.

Kept looking out the big front windows at work to catch a look at it in the sun today...going to buy a power washer sometime...clean cars do rock.

stubert, any issues when you were using the menzerna polishes? as most of them seem to end up being a pain in the arse and not breaking down, just turning to dust, normally this is caused by the weather believe it or not, so i'm guessing as it was hot you were fine?

Didn't have any issues with them not breaking down, you do need to work them for a lot longer than you might think tho. The Final Polish did go very dusty, but still left a great finish.

Camera lies, my car has a lot of dents and scratches...could do with a respray to look mint...might get one some day, but doubt it'd be the same colour.

central exit on the G...bit marmite...think am coming round to like it :)
