Well they've tried to do a retro-70's thing with it - homage to the era and all that. I can't see that being built, not least because the way the leading edge of the bonnet sticks out would contravene European rules concerning pedestrian safety - which is also the reason most new cars look all the same. :(

that things bloody ugly but that aint no surprise from the bmw camp! The side profiles ok with those weird ass wheels but thats where it ends!!!

I work for Audi

I use to have my own garage and looked after loads of 911 one of my best mates has a mk1 gt3 rs in white nice looking car and drives well but you can't drive it on normal roads as the diff and suspensions to tight.

The M1 will be a grower I think and prob more reliable than the R8

although i haven't driven either, I've been a passenger in a few different 911s. I would assume that most of the people trading thier 911s in for r8s arent becuase they want a better car per sai, but more the keeping up with the joneses phenomena where a new yuppie car comes out so all the other fucker yuppies need to go get one.

i can imagine something like a gt3 rs and many of the track prepared porkas to be slightly tiresome to live with everyday but i doubt the r8 has the edge over a standard regular road going 911.

and to be honest most people who drive them tend to just sit in town traffic posing at traffic lights.

The M1 looks too futureistic for my liking and the wheels are just a big NO!

I usually like BMWs especially the M-series cars but this one is just not to my taste.

I'd have the R8 over that anyday!

I presume its a concept/design study... if so then toning down the design would probably produce something quite fetching. The original M1 was such a disaster...they did well to plough on. The worst bit of the original is the two badges on each rear 1/4....no...just a big fat NO...looks bloody awful.

Then want to go and make a 1 Series Coupe into an M car...now THAT would be cool...

A 964 vs. an R8...hardly a fair comparison considering the age difference...

An R8 drives a lot differently from the GT3RS...both designed with different drivers in mind. There is a reason magazines continually tout the GT3 and GTRS as the best drivers cars just now...the R8 came a long as showed what a great car Audi could make, but it doesn't seem like anyone is holding it up as a bench mark.

I think it'd be a tough choice deciding between a 911 Carrera 4S and an R8...so I'd buy an 997 GT3.
