Car is Mk3 GT squareback

Basically the Rev counter has suddenly stopped working. Worked fine before. I havnt looked at it yet, but wondering if anyone had a similar problem and if the solution is a simple one, or complex. I havnt touched the dash, so no wires should have come out the back. However, I have been fiddling with the battery in which case, could a blown fuse be the problem? The other guages work fine.

First thing to check with anything electrical is the fuse. Use the owners handbook to locate the fuse number. After that it could be a bad connection or a dry joint on the pcb at the rear of the instruments.

Could be a sign of the hall sender about to fail. The 3 wires that go into the dizzy. I think its the middle 1 that sends the signal for the rev counter
