As POLOMON just said thats all it was...a dig back...so why dont some people on here calm themselves down and understand that if someone made a sarcy comment on your thread, and then you saw them post a thread, regardless of content, you would surely feel the need to have a dig back, maybe i shouldve been a bit more sensitive considerin the content but thats what i did, and i apologise...

...and as for somebody who keeps mentioning that i would imply he would torch his own car...get a life...because as said before i dont knw the chap and would under NO circumstances accuse someone of such a crime...

I'm not on your side in any of this i cant believe youve said that to him! hes just had his car burnt out!

its not like youve just found out that polos understeer alot and youve wrecked it, you asked and you got a reply. hes posted up pics of his burnt out car! disrespectful i say!

agreed, don't be a prick

Everyone drop it and stop hijacking the thread over that comment.

I had a mk1 caddy that i watched go up in flames, a car i had spent most of my teen years restoring!!!!!!! 8 days before i passed my test, so i know exactly what it feels like to watch your pride and joy go up in flames

FTW

Seriously though, whose up for a 'Save the Saf' Dub Fund and a day of everyone tooling up and going up to manc to help (defo the 2nd, maybe the 1st)

so if you know the situation why comment with such a cocky reply about his car!... digging the hole i say...

mate i still stand by my original post in that thread, you were following your mates car, trying to keep up and you knowingly entered a roundabout too fast and experienced handling characteristics in your car your not familiar with.

if you can tell me youve done advanced training which can be undertaken by the public at a cost obviously to ensure you know of to react when your car loses control and you practice in a safe environment.

practising it on open roads when other peoples lives could be at risk (say anyone else on the roundabout that you may understeer in to) is another thing completely.

and to start off your post you said you dont drive like a knob with a winking face, then pretty much summate a scenario that paints a giant cock on your foreheard, it kinda means you know you did something you shouldnt have been doing.

I'm reasonably calm about my car burning down but mortified i am mate. i spent like 3 months pouring time, money and effort into that car so i could pimp it about all summer then take it off the road for a full body resto in the winter. i road my bike nufty places to get bits for the car to get it in to action all in the middle of my final year exams so i can gladly say this isnt the outcome i expected or wanted.

if you wanna drive like a knob please do, but your polo isnt a race car, it isnt even fast, so playing catch up on public roads is pointless.

anyway i think I've made my point but in case you aint sure - if you wanna drive like knob, at least ensure you can control your car, take some proper driving lessons. I've never pushed any of my cars to the point of over steer or understeer bar once at 17 in my mums ford focus blatting around country lanes. that one drive where i nearly stacked it understeering round a corner (and the fear of telling my dad i stacked my mums car) taught me to be very careful in the way i drive on the road. loonacy and chasing your mates is best done on a race track

i respect you look after your car and dont wanna see anything bad happen to it, but think of the safety of you and your passengers and other road users before worrying about speed or catching anyone else up or taking roundabouts far too fast.

if it was a one off thing please drive careful in future as i will be

Full Stop.

thank you for been understanding i was expecting the rant of a lifetime, which is what I've deservedly recieved off your friends off here, it was a one off and belive me it wont be happening again, I've pm,d you and i hope you accept it, again apologies for what i said and i hope you get yourself a new mk1 sorted, il keep an eye out for any bargains up my way

thanks guys and dolls for all the support, much apprieciated. i think I'm still a bit in shock at the minute and it really aint sunken in. I'm trying to avoid looking out the window at the car as its rather tragic but fook it, bye gones be bye gones :(

shit happens and we all deal with it, after the death of two cars in the last week I'm just glad everyone is still here. cars are materialistic possessions and can be replaced, a human life cannae eh?

Such a shame this had to happen and so close to you having it completed and ready for some Summer cruising, hope this doesn't affect your exams and hope you can get things together for another brilliant project. Good luck mate and if you need any bits for your shell then just let me know as there's some Mk1 Golfs at a local scrappy.
