Yeah but when you're talking a 670 mile round trip a bargain car soon becomes something of a pipe dream

mine cost extra 80 quid or sumat, fill ma mates car up then fill the GT up for way back lol

i dont agree there. maybe if you were just looking for any car at all for that price then it would be a pipe dream, but if you are really after a blue mk2 coupe then that trip can be done in a day. a long day that may be, but you could just make a trip out of it. take a mate or two so your not bored all the journey. job done.

but like i said, if your are just after any car then maybe that will be a bit far.

Yeah it's not that I'm particulary after a blue coupe s but I would definately buy one at that price. Mainly just posted this for the benefit of other people that may be a bit closer

For both my polos I've done 10 hour round trips and travelled to different countries...ok only scotland and wales...still not my own country :p

went to scotland for a Crx

Wales for my polo

and to cornwall for a caddy my mate didnt even buy

Road trips FTW

i done a road trip to newcastle to pick my variant up. ;) depends if its just what you after n if any are lightly come up forsale in ure area or not.

I went to Carlisle for a car, my gold mk2 loon. :)

I went to Carlisle for my Polo GT too...twice...so that's 800miles in all. Went to Blackpool for Ross' GT, that was 600miles in all I think. Imrie and Ross went all the way from the North East of Scotland to Portsmouth on the South Coast for his G40. That's 1300miles give or take...

aye got a plane to pick up beena from norfolk and drove it 5 1/2 hours back.

done a road trip from northampton->cov->manc->leeds to go see and buy a orange old skool mini and pick up loads of mates en route, was a class day

i've only ever bought one car local

aye got a plane......

You win :-)

I got lazy and the mk2 coupe came to me from the South Coast to Yorkshire on the back of a truck :-)

hahaha the airport is closer to my house than the train station and the plane ticket there was cheaper than a train ticket to norwich and took like 6 hours less journey time, which was my saviour or else i would have fallen asleep driving the car back.

el muppet came on a truck and i didnt even see the car before i bought it, but some bargains are too good to refuse.

way i see it is with buying a car if you limit yourself to 50 miles from your house or whatever you wont get a true perception of whats out there, cos when you to national searches you see gems miles away.

if its cheap enough and youve had good words with the seller and feel as though the car was loved then you normally know one way or the other in your head whether you want it.

mk2 'loon - 5 miles

golf gti 16v - 10 miles

golf gti 8v - engine - 1 mile

- shell - 150 miles

mk2 squareback - yards

corrado vr6 - again yards

Guess I've been a bit lucky, but it wouldn't stop me travelling to get a car

Travelled from kendal to Milton Keynes to pick up some parts (bumpers, grill, bonnet etc..), then via sheffield on the way home, which was a 500 mile round trip, but it's nothing you should be bothered about, especially if you really want it.

I found that all the decent Polos were miles from me when i was looking for one, eventually i had to go to Manchester to get mine which should have been a 190 mile trip back which actually turned into a 300 mile trip due to someone sending me the wrong way down the M6 and i was very near to the border of Scotland :x:lol:

My Mk3 came from around the corner ..

The Mk2 wasnt too far either .. Id say hour and a half .

@ donnyburger - up your way not so long ago! Didnt see many dubs kicking about tho.

A couple of cars i brought were local (and 1 very cheap!).

White mk3 - Durham

Red mk3 - 10miles away

GT - courtesy of modest!

G40 - courtesy of G40will.

If its what you're looking for, a roadtrip makes it all the more fun!

Thats not to far from me.

If you want something, gotta be willing to travel for it!

There's not many round here at all, and all the good ones are hiding (in my garage!)

Too many chavaliers and sexo's and crap like that. :puke:

i'll be doing this as well, trucks FTW

Furthest i've ever tralelled was 30miles for my Supra.

Only 7 miles for my 6n

.....and the shortest distance was my Ginetta G31 from next door

Yeah this is pissing me off now! I want a rolling shell for my project but there miles away.

I'm all up for a road trip but when you travel 100 miles and you get there and the car needs a respray its really annoying!

If anyone knows of a decent mk3 / mk2 polo in the midlands area that doesnt need a respray let me know! lol
