yeah!! its a gritty scratching noise and its really annoying!!! started 2 days ago, want to get it fixed as soon as possible. anyone know what this might be?

Had this in my old polo. Its dirt and grit behind the steering wheel. A garage did it for me when I had my MOT done, but they took the steering wheel off and cleaned the splines where it connects. This should sort the problem.

yeah that could be it!!, do you think i could do this myself bearing in mind i have an air bag?

Yes, if your careful!!! Disconnect the battery to be safe!!!

I had this problem on my mk2 golf, it was the the contact ring that allows the horn to work all the way through the steering lock, it had worn and split, agh!!

Be careful though, I've got a nasty scar on my hand off an airbag, not nice!!
