Cashing TAX disc in?

Featured Replies

Can you still cash in any remaining tax on a car?

Theres a car I'm interested in, has mot but no tax. Would have to tax it to get it home but its going to be a project so will most prob be off the road for a few months, can i get 6 months tax and then cash it in when I'm home?

How much do you loose? Is it something stupid like a months worth?

Thanks

yes, can cash it in (form at post office), will cost you one month.

i have a friend that has picked up a car and driven it home with no tax with no problems - choice is yours!

cheers,

dave

You only get money back for every full month remaining. So yes, you'd lose a months worth.

Yeah you would lose a month. I did it on a Punto I had which was getting scrapped but still had a couple of months tax left. Go and get the form from the office though don't phone the DVLA and ask them to post one out. I did that 3 times and they sent nothing, nearly missed out on another months tax :doubt:
