My gearbox has just shat itself in my mk4 polo!! Its at the garage and hopefully to day they will be able to tell me how much of my lifesavings they need to fix it!

Anyway to stop these expensive payouts happenin again i was thinking of one of these extended warranty jobbies??? Only problem is my mk4 has its fair few modifications! Just wondering what people think. Anyone had experience with these?

Or will they try every trick in the book to avoid a payout? There seems to be a few good ones out there. A couple of em do BOTH mechanical failure + ware and tear which is pretty cool!

They claim to cover:

all engine parts

clutch

gearbox

casings

brakes

all sorts!!

Depending on what you have replaced previously and how much the warranty will cost you, I'd suggest just putting aside like a tenner or £20 a week specifically for car maintainance.

yeah there is a company that will cover up to 12 yrs. Might just save the money instead rather than flash £100 at a warranty company that might cause me issues when it comes to claim.

I have my bill 2day for gearbox job. £735!! But that does include a 60k warranty on the gearbox, and a new clutch aswell.

Well first of all, they won't cover clutch or brakes, unless they fall apart completely. It's soooooo easy to get out of those type of things by saying it's wear and tear! Company's who offer this service don't get rich from fixing everyone's car, no matter what went wrong!!!!!!!!!
