Can't Get a Decent Earth/Ground for my Sub

Featured Replies

Hey guys,

As title and description says,

I have a brand new alternator and the wiring appears to be all connected up.

I also have a new battery.

Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks

Rob

well I usually use a seat bolt or light bolt but neither are working just normal 8 gauge with ring and spade connectors running some cheap 4 channel amp I bought off someone on here. I have got it working before.

Do I have some dodgy wiring under the bonnet?

try connecting it directly to earth and poss on the battery as i reckon you may have shorted it and blown it ;)

If you've earthed it to a light bolt as you put it, I assume you scratched the paint off to create a proper earth?

Check condition of the cables too, is it definately going into protection mode because of bad earth, not into thermal protection mode?

I had a shitty 8AWG power cable once which had been stored tightly folded and it frayed some wiring inside the plastic which caused it to fail.
