I get this bullshit from my folks now and again. More so now that I got pulled the other week and they are insistant that I take my wheels off until I get the arch's done??

Strange how they go mad about me getting 3 points and a £60 fine but there cool with the amount of money I've 'invested' in interior??? Doesn't really add up imo?!

Although like Panda says my Dad does say to his mates about it. And then shortly after say's "fucking mad the money in that c**t"! Industrial language (sorry)

tbh though mate don't mean to be a nag but i agree with heartagram, you should listen to your parents afterall there the experienced driver and I'm guessing your a fairly new driver.

My dad helps me choose stuff, hes always been into dubs, hes had various Corrados (including 2 Storm's), mk1 Golfs, mk2 Golfs, mk3 VR6's, etc etc, now he has an RS4, so he's still VAG

My mum just stays out of it, although shes always loved driving dubs (my parents are pretty young by the way :p)

Luckily my mum has come round to the idea of me modding my car - i think she'd much rather I spent it on a nice car than on lots of drink and drugs and stuff students are supposed to do!

She also understands I'm never ever selling it - I explained that its getting on a bit now, and the money I would get for it just wouldn't be worth the time and hassle So I'll be keeping it as a project when I get a new car.

Just tell them it's your car and you'll do what you like with it - be that keep it or sell it. Or say if they really want you to have an Almera or something they can buy it for you, but the Polo stays (and gets driven while the other car rots on the drive!)

I never got it off my parents,but i did get it off various others - particularly work mates and neighbours. Once i was like "..Hold on a minute,i happen to like that car,and a darn sight more than your boring hearse. It cost me a months depreciation in your accounting,it aint going nowhere,and will be sat next to your house for many years to come.." I haven't heard from the old miser since.

My mum hates my car so i just get all Cartmen on her ass and tell her to get back in the kitchen and make me some pie!

My dads pretty cool with it though and has helped out a lot :-D

When i got my car, my dad said he liked it, even with it lowered! when i mentioned about getting a GTi grill he said not to as he liked the de-badged slatted grill! now i told him about my moment of madness going down the girlfriends lane with a pot hole every metre and he said to stick the standard suspension on, i luaghed and said no.... my mum also said its too low, but they just dont understand the concept and that its something i enjoy doing, and i get to own and drive a nice car

Thats exactly what my parents think.

They'd rather I spent all my money and had something to show for it at the end than spending all my money on drink and drugs! It's not that I dont want to or anything.....

at first my parents wernt too sure, but once my dad realized it wasnt going to be a chavmobile he actualy likes it

Haha my parents think I'm daft for spending money on mods, which will cost me more money in insurance! But i've explained it all and they just accept that its my car, my choice. They're happy I'm investing time and money into the car and having an end result, as well as learning a lot and gaining skills and experience.

And they know i'll have to put them on my insurance, and they are sort of looking forawrd to being able to borrow it in am id-life crisis kinda way! Makes it acceptable for mum to drive a decked polo cause its her son's. I don't mind them driving it, i know they are both very good drivers and are highly unlikely to damage it.

but i still haven't told them the total i've spent on it!!!

My parents get abit arsey about it sometimes as they see some things as a waste of money just for looks, but on the other hand my dad does understand because he was the same as i was at my age, but only his first couple of cars were definately better than what i own. mk1 golf gti + bmw 3.0 CSL.. The only VW I've owned that both parents tolerated was the Red MK2 Polo.

The campervan doesn't count as it's my Dad's.

Neither of them really liked any of my VW's.

My work place hated all my VW's with a passion. I've been asked frequently to buy a better looking car by clients and managers.

Everyone hated my G40.

Just smile and wave at them any time they see you in it. They'll eventually give up and think you crazy.

My parents absolutely hate my car. They pay for everything in terms of the car, but have had to spend so much in repairs and maintenance.

They are trying to get me to sell it at the moment, but that is not going to happen!

my dad used to hate my gti till i lowered it on RM's then he seemed to take a liking to it (as did everyone tbh)....then i swapped it for the ibiza and we had a chat about whos car was faster, ended up with me whopping him in his beemer.. he grew a serious hate for it after that... but in his defense he is helping out with the servicing costs whilst I'm at uni so fair enough......

My parents enjoy my car modding, as they like there cars too. Well my mums got a TF160 and me dad tinkers with his Cerbera all the time! so all's good!

haha thought it was just my parents after countless engine/gearbox/clutch/charger/leadscables/tyres/wheel changes and thousands spent my parents hate my car, sure they shit themselves when i give it some g smiles but they really really hate it, but what are they gonna do? its my money? lol

they hated the g40 too, to be fair it did leak oil all over our new drive but i sorted that problem, then it leaked coolant, so i sorted that, then it leaked petrol. didnt need to sort that in the end!

the only car they ever liked was my focus as it looked nice!

tbh my dad thinks a skyline is a toyota and he is only judging it on opinions from his work mates and my mum doesnt mind she just isnt sure whether it would actually get up the drive in the first place! haha
