the best sounding set-up

Featured Replies

hi lads.any experts please help me

right basically all i have got so far is a geneses profile amp amp.

i was thinking of using this to power a pair of focal components, but which ones?

i also need a high powered quality amp to power a quality sub which needs to be enclosed in the boot.

id probably pay up to 500 for each piece.amp, sub and componets.

thanks

time to get into the sq forum on talkaudio.co.uk

but it's not how much you spend it's how and where you fit the components to get the correct sound stage

and for the sub you need an excellent enclosure design and well made enclosure

i'm no good with the sq equipment i much prefer pure street bass ;)

i was going to use the original factory slots...which are in the door cards.

the tweeters would have to be mounted in the upper front door pillars.

i just wanted a decent set up, i dont want to get arrested from the noise pollution agents

from austrialia!

yeah but an sq setup comes down to the positioning of everything to get the correct sound stage, theres no point spending hundreds on components if there gonna be let down from the position there mounted in also you need to deaden the car well and maybe use a decent equaliser to set it up well something from audiocontrol is always a good place to start ;)

i wouldn't worry about the noise pollution bit you'd need alot bigger budget for that :p

I'm confused alreadyy lol.i havnt got time look for the best sounding set-up lol

ok mate where wuld you recommend going to get the shite installed?

any recommendations?

well it's not worth throwing hundreds at a system if your not gonna do it properly

reasnable set of components around £150 is a decent budget for them

sub all depends what sort of sound you want probably a 12" would suit in a nice well built and designed box, and a mono amp with a simaler power rating all depends what you want and what sound you like maybe worth listening to a few cars.

your in peterborough theres a db drag at modified nationals on sunday which i'll be at as well as alot of other well specced cars maybe pop along and listen to a few ;)

do you want to do it for me?

i'm 3 hours drive away but the lad that owns the company i get all my gear from will do you an awesome install and is in milton keynes along with another top lad doing an sq install from peterborough ;)

perfect to get and install your equipment for you anything from simple to a fancy install can be done by them

if you join talkaudio and message dan. or vd on there or pm me if you want a contact numer ;)

excellent thanks!

whats the name of the place?

he deals online but does alarms and installs as well he's called dave has www.directice.co.uk and his number is 07703048599

just give him a call he won't let you down ;)

how do you know what size sub will be best. what difference will 10" or 12" sub do, my mate reconmended 10" sub cos it does faster bass. but i really dont know which one to get to suit the music.

it's not so much the size of the sub it's the size and design of the box, i'v had 18" subs which played fast punchy bass well as well as slow low bass it's all getting the box right but remember the bigger the sub the bigger the box will need to be ;)

hmm, well I've have to see what my pennies will allow when i get back from greece. I'm pretty sure I'm gunna do a build similar to that focus (perks of having a bro whos a joiner lol) I'm thinking sub one side and amp other (would it look tacky having neons put in??) how much bigger will the box have to be if i got 12" sub instead of 10"?? cos i still want a boot to use

running sealed

a 10" will need about 0.8 - 1cuft

12" will need 1 -1.5cuft

neons if done right look fine

r4bby - i see you're in Peterborough. I'm in Spalding so not that far away. Whatever you do, DONT go to ice direct! Heard so many bad things about them and they're overpriced anyway. Tried to charge me £750 for 2 Rockford fosgate DVC subs when good ole ripspeed sold me 2 newer ones for £525!
