the car as i bought it

1.6 glx 97 model in red

bodywork stage 1

arches pulled and flared, windows, washer jets, side repeaters, arial all smoothed

bodywork stage 2

front indicators smoothed and front bumper smoothed

coilovers fitted

wheels powder coated black with red rim tape

headlights tinted, rear 6N2 smoked led lights, debadged grill

some pics of the wall which and interior which is still very much work in progress

notice the postman pat headlining, mamba bucket seats, smoothed in wall with red port.

still to come door cards will be made and painted, dash customised and mk3 golf center console as well as other trick bits :)

how did you smooth your bumper ???

how long did this all take you ???

well i got the car about 18 months ago it's been work in progress from then and is still very much work in progress :)

bumper was done by fiberglassing pieces into the gaps and skimming with filler :)

this car is crazy, one of my fav mk4s, its certainly different :p

i want you are headlights :p haha

looks like a LOT of hard work went it to make it what it is! Well worth it tho!

My other half wants to know if you got your inspiration from her Black civic??? She's had hers van'd too!

lol thats not me thats dave the guy who supplies all my audio :)

the idea actually came from the bodyshop guy he asked if i wanted to smooth the rear window since we couldn't use it and it would make it more secure :)

then i said it wouldn't suit it unless the rear side windows where done as well so he went for it and it turned out well :)

noticed the GEP sticker in back window, and thats a local garage round corner from me haha

it's a combination of splitting and painting the internals and also tinting the glass

sweet, as mike sais one of my favourite mk4's so unique which is noce!

did you spray the roof black at some point if so you should have kept it, would look nice with it black.

yeah it's still black but need to get rid of the sun roof and redo it :)

Not to be funny but when i see progress pictures and i see the work been done its makes me laugh such a bodge prep and spray job. sorry mate just i dont like bodgers are us if it aint done right then dont bother at all my moto.

its difficult to flaw the finish though mate if you have ever seen it in the flesh. i like this polo just needs to be lower on the back but i suppose i do have an obsession with lowering, but apart from that its unique and looks pretty dam cool

I have seen this car in flesh and yes i can prep and paint to a good standard lets put it this way i wouldnt let someone like that touch my porsche, merc, lexus what i work on everyday.

this is one top car, with a top paint job, with tops work done and lots of time spent...

the back does need to be lowered, but that'll happen when the new amps go in...

that polo must be carrying so much weight...

can i just ask though, what made you go for a polo for your car of choice?

i went for a polo cos i saw acky's driving about a few times and loved the stance :)

as for the prep / paint may i ask what was done wrong ?

it may not be 100% but for the money paid and the time spent i can't fault it, and it's going back again to get rid of any defects that have shown up :)

the guy has 30 years experience is a panal beater by trade can make his own panals for cars has done alot of restoration work on rolls royces, morris minor's etc so he has all the knowledge needed and to be honoust i don't know how he could of done the work any different ?
