Wing mirror seized on 9n

Featured Replies

The drivers wing mirror on the polo 9n I've just picked up has seized (won't fold in).

Anyone know if this is common, and how it's fixable?

thanks...

Thanks for the reply.

It's possible it's never been moved.

I've tried wd40 in the gap but no luck.

I'll need to wait for my Haynes manual

before I tackle taking covers off :)

(do they just pop off?)

if there like mk4/5 ones the pull upwards, i popped mine out with a small butter knife and levered it up to sepreare the base plate and the cover, besta luck with it mate.

they'll just be stiff if you're wanting to fold the full mirror in. Just apply even pressure and it'll come.

:) Exactly why I'm asking. The whole thing just moves and looks like it might come off the fixings to the door if I push it too hard.

I'll report back when I've sorted it out. It's as soaked with WD40 as I can get it at the moment.

They are going to the nearby cemetery. A small blue, dilapidated pick-up truck goes past, a red flag hanging sodden from a wing mirror. It is the only vehicle and is laden with mourners perched precariously on the edges of the back, the coffin lying in the middle, at their feet. It is raining intermittently, the wind is gusting and we are drawing breath from the advance storm winds of Cyclone Favio.

Mad spam!

Update: all that WD40 worked. The mirror now fold back in. It took a couple of months to get this sorted though.
