The idea that fuel can change compression ratio is the best joke I've heard in a while, but keep a sense of perspective, lads!

"better" compression as it will allow the (now worn with 91K) engine to better utilise the existing compression ratios.

did i say "higher" as in higher than normal? no, i do in fact realise that theres no such thing as t99 octane pixies that come and change my pistons etc at night.

why the fuck is everyone having a big paddy about this? grow the fuck up!

the question was does anyone else experience anything interesting when using higher octane fuel?

a few of you seem to have managed to answer this as your not crying about how inadequate and how small your dick is like some others.

y write anything if its nt gna concern what the topic was started for? :x:x:finger:

You did imply it

higher anti knock rating of the fuel allows for further compression

It won't allow it to utilise better compression, i'm sorry for your loss.

i use shell V-Power - 99RON ... although the valver was designed to run on 98 RON....(check behind your fuel cap).... but it returns excellent performance.. smooth idleing.... and some times more MPG depending on how i drive :D

finally someone can give me decent answer :-D

I tuned mine on 95,then found it ran better on 99. Which leads me to question my own tuning abilities.. The idle aint great, but thats certainly my fault. Still,on a run,the more expensive fuel seems to pay for itself.

The 1.4 16v was designed with higher octane fuels in mind... unlike your gay 1.6

With the mpg your getting i would get your engine checked out as theres something wrong with it

you seem to think something is wrong with my engine because i get 30mpg?

considering i mainly do short journeys from cold that aint bad. maybe your right, but at least it aint getting scrapped at the end of the day!

my name is hypojam (aka forum fanny) and if anyone says they get better mpg and better running through using better fuel I'm gna have a paddy! lol  :-)

I think theres something wrong with your engine because when you ran it on 95ron you only managed 22mpg

I dont think you taking the piss out of me having to get my polo scrapped is funny :finger:

dont be a idiot then! lol i dont care what you think, this thread was to see whether anyone else had the same result as me when using higher octane fuel as i was so suprised at the result, not to see how immature evry1 can be!:lol: if you dont use it why even bother posting? :finger:
