Jetta G60 breaking/for sale

Featured Replies

Hi all, since my '91 big bumper jetta has now run out of MOT I shall be breaking it up shortly. I had a prang in it in October (2weeks after I bought it!) & bent the l/h chassis leg, front wing & bonnet - I straightened it out as best as I could at the time, but tbh it needs a new leg, & there are corrosion issues elsewhere on the car. I've already got enough to deal with project-car wise & simply don't have the time or inclination to fix it. The bonnet & front bumper are a bit bent, & the left front wing has dodgy paint (paint ran on 3rd coat & I accidentally cut through to primer when rubbing it out)

It's got the brakes & engine from a g60 corrado, & is L041 black in colour. I'd like to keep the charger & port it out further as both casing halves & the displacer are in really good condition. Having said that though, I can include it if required - needs a rebuild kit as I took it apart to rebuild but never got around to it. Charger was rebuilt in 2001 by Jaba, who also performed some mild porting work. The car came with a spare 68mm pulley, "incase I fancy having a bit more fun" so I suspect the ecu has been remapped to suit.

the intercooler that came with the car was leaking so I binned it

Has original 020 4T gearbox fitted (60mph in second!), & is lowered approx 60mm.

The engine runs amazingly well, & was faultless during the 13k miles I put on it. When I bought the Jetta I changed the cam belt, idler pulley, water pump, & the plastic water temp sensor housing which bolts onto the head & connects to the top hose. I replaced this as there was a slight coolant leak coming from in between the plastic & the cylinder head. Unfortunately, it must have been leaking for some time as the coolant flow had eroded the o-ring land away, meaning the o-ring wouldn't make a seal anymore. I made a 10mm thick aluminium spacer (see pic below. Didn't have time to trim it to match the shape of the plastic flange at the time!) & cut a gasket to suit from gasket paper, & the car hasn't leaked since. Minor detail, but it's better to be honest. If this erosion is an issue for any potential buyer I'll gladly weld up the void & scrape the surface back to flat again the next time the buyer takes the head off.

Oh yeah, the g60 steelies aren't for sale (might be persuaded if you take the whole car) - I only got them in Jan!

I think that's it. If you want any bits, or are interested in the whole car chuck a PM my way.

Based in Littlehampton, West Sussex.

Apologies for the filthiness of the car, I really haven't had any spare time recently!

cheers,

Ben

Had a few PMs & phone calls about this, & the bottom line is I'll take £750 for the engine, loom, ecu, charger (in current state) & any other bits you may require (e.g. rad, hoses, fuel pumps etc) from the car to transplant into your car, or £600 minus the charger. If you want the charger rebuilt I'll put it back together for you if you buy the parts required (roughly £250), or I can just hand over all the notes/photos I took when I took it apart, along with all the research I did on G-laders before I bought the car.

if you do split the engine, maybe interested in injectors if they're in good condition.

Just found the engine I want for my golf at a ridiculously low price, so will take £500 for the engine, ecu, loom etc, & anything else anyone needs for their conversion. Take it away peeps!
